WRMO The Wave Sold

As of last week, 93.7 & 94.1 FM has been sold. Morning show host Paul Dupuis was let go this past Friday. According to a Facebook post November 13th from yesterday, big changes are in the very near future. As of today the format is still active.

In previous years the station has flipped to Christmas just before Thanksgiving, branded as "The Christmas Wave"24/7 through Christmas night.
There's no word yet on buyer or what format flip may occur.

Updates to follow.

According to some reports, sold to a public radio group. They also have the AM/FM (translator) combo around Bangor (I think). Wonder what will happen with that?

Yes, Maine Public has acquired the station from Charles Begin’s Pine Tree Broadcasting for $150,000. 93.7 will flip to Maine Public classical network on December 1. The Soft AC format will continue on 1230 WGUY Veazie/94.1 W231CH Bangor.

Just a slight clarification. WGUY (AM 1230) is now back to 'Oldies', and the Wave format will continue on AM 1340 and 94.1 FM in Bangor.

93.7 The Wave is gone--at midnight last night (11/30/16), the owner Chuck Begin said: "This is WRMO signing off...good night...and goodbye."

The Wave still continues in Bangor on 94.1 FM and AM 1340.

93.7 will come back soon as MPBN Classical

Is the wave still in 94.1 and 1340. I heard it is gone from there too.

It's been over 2 months since the move to Bangor and solely 94.1/1340. The Wave has still not updated their website or Facebook page. The station is basically a jukebox in mornings and afternoons, local spots have all but disappeared and currents have increased.

Speaking of WRMO; according to announcements on Maine Classical and on their website, WRMO 93.7 is operating at reduced power thanks to a lightning strike at their Franklin Tower on Martin Ridge. They say parts are on order and station should be at full power sometime next week...hopefully. Greatly reduced signal here on Mount desert Island.

As of Tuesday evening, May 23 it sounds like they are back on full power; good signal back here on Mount Desert Island. I am quite surprised that I can also get their 106.1 translator from Black Cap Mountain (co-located with WMEH 90.9) quite well. Not bad for a 250 watt translator at 40 miles (but about 1200 feet above sea-level)
