WRNB by no means Local..

Just wanted to check their coverage and strength, the other day on the boards in Ocean City inside the Music Pier, WRNB was loud and clear. Yesterday, inside the Christiana Mall, they were loud and clear, in fact for some reason WMMR was also loud and clear, the two Liberty sites were very good in the food court. This tells me WRNB is either operating with more than set power or their transmitter location is excellent. By no means are they a small, puny, local outlet. I was surprised the River did not come in as good as it should in that area. What I did hear of the River sounded pretty good, very little talk and a wide selection of music, although, not as heavy as I like it, but not bad. Its funny when the studios of the River is in an area where a typical clock radio cannot receive them. Glad Jon Vough is there, he is a real nice person. BTW I was using a Grundig Yacht Boy portable radio.

Re: WRNB IN Bensalem, PA

I've found that, due to my antenna setup, and Yamaha T-85 tuner, that WKRF comes in if I turn the antenna exactly at the right direction.
I am betting that as you go north tward Allentown that WRNB has a directional null to protect WKRF?

WRONG.

In order for WRNB to reach Ocean City with the kind of reception you describe they would need to be cranking out 70,000 watts or so rather then the 780 watts they are transmitting.

The reason for the good reception on that given day is below...

Go to: <a href="http://members.cox.net/fmdxweb/propagationmodes.html">http://members.cox.net/fmdxweb/propagationmodes.html</a>

Look under the heading "Tropo". It's been happening for weeks due to the heat wave.

I'm glad someone can actually get WRNB, because I still have yet to hear more than 2 minutes out here near Reading. It gets swamped by the WKRZ translator on 107.9 in the Poconos. It may come in well near Philly and east, but west of Philly is horrible.

Re: WRNB IN Bensalem, PA

They do have a slight directional null to the southwest.
