WRNB Tweaks- Drops the Hip Hop

It seems like 100.3 WRNB has tweaked the music selection to drop the Hip Hop they blended in when Radio One traded 103.9 to Audacy. They've also reverted back to the logo they used before adding in the Hip Hop.

No airstaff is listed on the website. Not sure if that's just while re-launching, or if the talent was let go.

Considering they set new lows in overall 6+ ratings (vanity I know, but still), it wasn't surprising that SOMETHING would happen. Going back directly after market-leading 105.3 WDAS doesn't seem like a bad strategy.

Is it just me, or has this company lathered/rinsed/repeated (tried/failed/reverted) several times with their Philly stations? It's not a good look.

When your company's focus shoehorns you into formats that others in market are already doing well, it makes for a tough situation.

I have always felt like they had one too many stations in Philly. Now that they've sold one and are still flopping around, I'm beginning to think that maybe all along, they had two too many stations.

Last week miss jones started at 94.7 in New York and I think they are gonna syndicate the show at some point so urban one beat 96.5 to the punch by flipping 100.3 back to RNB just to stop Audacy from flipping 96.5 to the block

they killed two alternatives that were making more bucks then what they turned them into, but we all know, no matter what, its not their thing....
You do know they started an alternative station in Richmond Virginia called y101 they ended up selling that station and it was moved to 100.9

Not sure if this qualifies as a “flip” or “flip back” but with all the guessing on previous threads about format changes I dont remember any guesses or speculation about this change.

There had been speculation about Radio One having to do SOMETHING as the ratings hit record lows. But no one really went out on a limb to say WHAT Radio One might do, because as pointed out earlier in the thread, the company, with few exceptions, really has cornered themselves into only a handful of formats because of their corporate positioning, and it seems they just shuffle aimlessly between those formats hoping something might stick.

Throwback Hip-Hop failed twice in Philly. First Urban One tried it. Then i-Heart did it on 106.1, so I seriously doubt it will be tried a third time. Of course if I'm wrong and it is tried a 3rd time I'll deep fry and eat my Flyers hat.

Real 106.1s last book as throwback hip hop was a 3.0 it wasn’t that bad I heart just Thought they’d have better success competing with b101 and we seen how that went
