WRNN- Now Airing Law & Order

So, I know this is not officially a NYC station, but we do receive it on cable, so I thought it would be ok to mention it here. I was browsing though the online guide and noticed that WRNN now airs Law and Order Criminal Intent weeknights at 7pm. How odd is that? It is surrounded by NewsCenter Now and Richard French Live, with no other syndicated fare anywhere else on the schedule. Do you think this is a sign of more changes?

I'd just be glad if they got a stronger signal; 3 days straight here in the OCNY where it usually comes in strong, and we got nothing, Not even the sub-channels.

Maybe they'll revert back to the old WTZA, Channel 62, days back in the 80's with syndicated programming plus local news. The station was pretty cool when they did that.

(Former WTZA intern talking here!)

How are you viewing the station? I believe they turned off their analog channel 62 signal awhile ago.

62 did go away a while ago.

The other poster may be under the misimpression that multiple digital subchannels are on separate signals, rather than just additional bits on a single transmission.

As far as I know, WRNN-DT is doing 950 kW, rather than the 750 kW they had an STA for some time ago (what you linked). STAs last six months; the last time they renewed their STA was April 2004.

I think they're already maxed out in terms of power at the 950 kW they're doing now. The FCC allows 1000 kW at heights up to 365m (~1200 feet) and they're at 1239 feet, so...

I got the Digital Converter box, and at first, I was able to get it on 48.1, 2 & 3. I actually have the signals back now, so forget what I said before (It was probably just a technical thing).

What's on 48-2?

I was only aware of 48-1 and 48-3 (FUNimation)...

Looks like TBN, possibly a simulcast of WTBY 54 Poughkeepsie, according to Zap2It.

48.2 is a simulcast of WTBY's Religious Programming...Yeah, I know, it's a waste since their own channel has 5 digi subs; but not half as big a waste as WFME and It's 12 (12!) Subchannels of Radio Simulcasts with a placecard of their phone number attached to each one of them...But as I can see, we've veered incredibly off topic.

WRNN-DT filed yesterday to reduce power somewhat, from 950 kW to 835 kW, but the reason is that they want to modify their directional pattern to put more power to the east.

As suspected, adding L&O was just the first step. They have now added Inside Edition and
Access Hollywood to their afternoon line-up. I hope the trend continues, because they need to get rid of all those infomercials. As a result of the added syndicated fare, they have reduced the news to a 30-minute Long Island newscast. I don't see how this makes sense considering they are now ignoring the under-served Hudson Valley.

Here in Philly, I just started receiving WTVE-DT in OTA reception, as the station must have increased power. It now reaches the Philly suburbs proper and I bet will have to be added to the local Comcast and Verizon Fios lineups via must-carry. WTVE 51 made it to satellite some years back. Now, that WRNN's owner also owns WTVE, I wonder if these few select shows (Inside Edition, Access Hollywood, Law & Order) would be added to WTVE's lineup, serving a similar purpose to WRNN, and rimshotting a main city.

Well, the traditional newscasts are now completely gone from RNN. I think it is time to find a new moniker unless RNN stands for Really No News.

Maybe "Regional? Nothing, Nope."
