WRNO Gone...? Not quite yet...

ok what's the deal? wrno had that "tentative" date to change today. maybe i'm too soon. maybe they gonna change later today. any thoughts??see, i've noticed some companies that make format changes, will typically do them at like 5am or some other odd time like that. maybe we waitin' on that or maybe they gonna do it at noon so many will get the opportunity to hear....sawtooth

will not be this week. spinato said they would be rockin thru next friday? althought its not really rockin anyway ;D

CC did say publicly that June 1st was the "working date."Like I said before, most format flips seem to happen on Thursdays. I've observed over the years that they sometimes happen at 10AM or Noon.Regardless, Clear Channel is the Walmart monster of radio and they've ruined WRNO even if they don't flip.

wrno just played alive by pearl jam...i dont think its changing format. just going mainstream. its a hoax.. ::)

Is this 99.5 FM we are talking about ? I read in the Times Picayune living section of the paper almost half a month ago they would be discontinued and replaced by Talk. Yet it's been almost 2 weeks since the proposed date of change. What the hell is going on ? When are we gonna get some decent talk format here in new orleans.

4 stations in NOLA doing talk and you think WRNO is going to be a savior of talk under CC? Sorry but I think it's going to be CC as usual. It has been said elsewhere that everyone is not in place and now are saying mid Julyhttp://www.radio-info.com/smf/index.php?topic=39743.0RFLA

I can only think of 3 : 690 870 and 1350. 1280 is all sports , not talk. am i missing one ?I do'nt know what if anything it will add. I imagine it will give us options over the other 3. 690 and 870 seem to sync up and do the same horrible programing at the same time, both do sports simultanesouly. Is there any real diff. btw. eric asher and garland Robinette? both are the most cadaverous hosts i've ever listened to. As far as 1350 is concerned There's only so much "bush is a war criminal" or " our soldiers are deliberate baby killers " i can listen to.I can't believe we traded O reilly and Dr. laura for that. An 870 trade would have been greater, but since rush is such a juggernaut, guess that's not gonna happen.

Yep, I was considering 990am with 870,1350,and 690 as all are a news/talker variety of which we won't know how exactly CC will go with it in the Big Easy.If you want to talk about talk in general, we can add in 1280 and 1560 for sports, 730 if it ever finds a buyer, and 89.9 for the NPR news and talk they have on there. This town will actually have more talkers (I talking all varieties) than the cities in the market rating we are estimated at currently and actually more or almost the same count as cities a tad larger than our pre Katrina level. But at least WRNO in it's last month is letting it's hair loose and opening the format more.. If they could loosen it uip more with more newer I'd like to see what they would do with "bayou Rock"As the music has to keep you there and the same 70 songs won't work anymore than it did 5-10 years ago IMORFLA

i really can't listen to bayou, but when i pass by from time to time, i catch a new song on. i've noticed bayou has added newer rock like green day, staind, etc. is this supposed to combat wrno or something??? seems like they've "let their hair down" at rno, and so has kaplan at "everything that should rock." lolsawtooth

Bayou has been playing Stained and Green Day since Day one... But you won't hear anything newer than the latter part of 2003 on 95.7 currently. Older songs by those groups fit in that time frame.RNO has let it's hair down and is definitely playing 90s rock a lot more lately... But from what I've heard, it ends around 1999's Creed song "with Arms Wide open".. or at least that is the latest I've counted so far.... At least Mullet Mondays sounded just Like the Jason Ginty days at timesRFLA
