They are always #1 or #2 in every book but I just don't hear the buzz that used to surround the station.If Thunder is ever gonna make a move you would think it would be now but they seem to be spinning their wheels as well.Is country simply in a funk as a format???I know I used to love country and now when I listen (and its very little)the music is just 90% awful to me.Is it me or does country need something different to infuse some life back into it??? I don't hear people talking much about country around here...Maybe its my imagination??? I know I would rather listen to a moose fart than hear Rascal Flatts,Taylor Swift and Kenny Chesney 30 times a day but that's just me....

Thunder isn't doing that bad in the ratings... I think that's where most of WRNS's ratings have gone.

Remember, they now have the Bear (skews older) and Thunder (skews younger) competing in the same space that used to be them and little 'ol 94.1.
 
WERO may bump WRNS to #3 when the book comes out. The PD at WERO, his name is Hollywood, must be doing something right! As for Wayne, the PD at WRNS, who knows?

One has competition, one doesn't.
 
Hollywood is a YES MAN...everyone in the building knows it. Whoever is calling the shots is doing something right. I've got a good friend in the building and WERO and no competition is a good thing. We saw how they did when there was another station close to the format.
 
Being a yes man is a requirement for being a PD at WERO. Bill O'Brien wasn't, and he got canned (he wouldn't stop playing hip hop). Rob Carpenter wasn't, and he got canned (though he shouldn't have -- I think they canned him over one Garth Brooks song?). The guy who brought Hollywood with him didn't last long either, but his former employers in Tennessee offered him a promotion. I would mention Tony Banks but I have no idea why he left.

I heard he left radio though. Working for NextMedia will make people do that.
 
If Hollywood is a "yes man", who is he playing "yes man" to? The last GM that got fired after being there almost a year? As for WERO having no competition, I would agree. They have none. As for WRNS having any REAL competition in the market, I don't think they do. Like I said, Hollywood must be doing something right to keep Ace and TJ along with four daypart jocks (including himself) in place. That's a heavy jock load. Just my opinion.
 
They have to be a yes man to the VP/Programming of NextMedia that's sitting in Colorado. Headquarters loves to micromanage the stations so it's no wonder they go through GMs like underwear.
 
The only thing to me that makes BOB listenable is Gina Gray.She gives the station an adult presentation that it sorely lacks at other times.Corporate has always made head stratching decisions with every station.My favorite is they'll spend a million dollars on one project and then let it sit there and make almost no attempt to try to make money with it and then Corporate gets in a money crunch and has to cut back people but yet they throw money at something with
very little return potential because a higher up got a wild hair.I've seen it happen alot...

If anyone wants to re-live the glory days, the old 93.3 building is now for lease as office space. As far as I know the 930 transmitter is still in the back. Yes, you too can work 15 feet away from 5,000 watts of AM RF!

I sure hope the Pirate Radio crew did a lot of renovating in that place. I always felt like we were one sneeze away from the walls coming down around us.

Gina rocks! Great air personality. Her talent on the air could easily land her a gig in a much larger market. My opinion.
