WRNT 48 Hartford, CT & Coming this fall to UPN 9

Just a note, was tuning around on the dial to see if any DX conditions were about, and so far, nothing. On the other hand, I noticed a signal on 48 with Telemuno programming looking for the moment to be exactly trhe same as 50, except the constant ID on it (much like WHCT-38 does) and seemingly about the same signal level or maybe a little less.As I typed this, I continued to tune and hit 59, they are showing a promo with a lower 3rd graphic with the UPN 9 logo and "coming this fall", no mention of the new MY network

Are you sure? Hartford already has WUTH-CA (FUT) channel 47, a Telefutura affiliate.

According to the FCC's database WRNT-LP is a Construction Permit on 48 and licensed on Channel 6. It's listed as being owned by R&S Broadcasting. WRNT/6 was previously WMLD-LP, which relayed WHTX-LP/10, which moved to WMLD-LP/6 only after WHTX-LP went dark in. I don't recall when WMLD-LP went dark. The FCC's Database Also Show a mailing address for WRNT as:Salvatore Minniti144 Crest StreetWhethersfield, CT 06109From a map on the FCC's website it appears that their tower is on Avon Mountain. And their signal serves Hartford, Bristol, New Britain, Middletown, Kensington, Wethersfield, and Manchester. http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/FMTV-service-area?x=TX670900.html I remember during the pre-ZGS Days of WRDM-LP/50 (previously 13) it was:WRDM-LP Channel 13 HartfordWDMR-LP Channel 65 SpringfieldW11BJ Channel 11 HartfordW10BQ Channel 10 New HavenI think at one time W11BJ relayed FOX 61 because I remember in the TV Guide it said For Programs on 11 in Hartford see 61. Just like it said for Programs on 59 in New Hven See 30.

I remember this station WHTX/WMLD very well. They had campaigned hard to get off the ground, including a petition to get carriage on local cable systems. However nothing ever panned out. There was some connection to the University of Hartford, either sharing the studios or having an office there, if I remember correctly. According to NorthEast RadioWatch http://www.fybush.com/nerw.html, WHTX-10 left the air in December '98 when WTNH/DT 10 went on. They were reassigned as WMLD/6, but according to the same website, they were already dark by July '99. I distinctly remember that the station's website remained tv10hartford.com, even after they became channel 6. here's a look at archived versions of their old webpage:http://web.archive.org/web/19981212033634/http://www.tv10hartford.com/ (September '98)http://web.archive.org/web/19990117003231/http://www.tv10hartford.com/ (December '98/change to WMLD)http://web.archive.org/web/19990418105410/http://www.tv10hartford.com/ (the very last update found: March '99/coming soon ctEN - CT Entertainment Network!)The whole thing was really low budget, with things like a psychic hotline, sports scores and webdesign services... But the guy tried. The person in charge at the time, who I had several e-mail correspondences with about local cable carriage, was a Mr. Mike Lupo, most likely the reason for the "WM.L.D" call letters. While I wish him good luck, I'm very surprised to see him give it another chance. I don't know if this area can handle another station, especially one that won't be offering much. There is already "WNHW" 28 in New Haven and W22BN in Danbury (if it still exists). And before you know it, WHPX/26 and WSAH/43 will also be stations offering not much of anything when PAX/i and Shop-At-Home go off the air. (Not like it matters anyway!) ;D

WNHW runs programming from one of those weird networks - either America 1 or Urban America Television. And W22BN runs Family Net Relgious Network. And they used to also show the RAI Italian Network. WNHW's listings are in the grid in the New Haven Register. And I remember seeing W22BN's schedule in the Danbury News Times.Maybe America 1 or Urban America Television is what they can put on WSAH. Shop-At-Home is discontinuing programing one week from Thursday at 10PM (Programming ends 10PM Thursday the 22nd).

Do you know if W22BN is still on the air? They used to carry RAIuno and RAI International, as well as one of the Portuguese networks. W13BF/W65BX (WRDM/WDMR) started off very similarly. It's too bad stations like that get sucked into Spanish programming or religious infomercials. But I guess you cannot argue with the demographics.

W22BN still has an FCC License. I don't know if they're still on the air. I haven't been to Danbury in years. The last time I was in Danbury:105.5 in Danbury was still Oldies.990 in Southington was run by a crooked Hispanic woman, who got evicted from the station buy a court order.105.1 in NYC was still Jammin' Oldies.93.7 in Hartford was still Dancin Oldies.102.7 in NYC was still Classic Rock.107.1 in NY was still Country. And The World Trade Center was still Standing!
