WRNT 48 is back from the dead, this time as RTN

I guess this is why none of the state's broadcasters have jumped on the Retro TV network bandwagon yet for the multicast channels. I have to assume this started today at some time, as I don't check them every day and I didn't get a chance to go upstairs just a little while ago. Being the first of the month it is a good bet that it was today.

Also checked the website to see the schedule, and there's no mention of WRNT (wonder how long this was in the works with such a similar call sign), however the listing for WJAR DT3 seemed to match the WWII movie airing at the moment.

On another note, still no sign of "This TV" on WTXX DT2 yet.

Too bad I can't get WRNT-LP where I am in New Britain. I do get a faint signal of it on a TV at work in Newington.

Where can you actually pick up this station? I can't get it in Farmington, and you're saying no in New Britain and Newington. So that basically just leaves Avon or West Hartford.

Well Avon/West Hartford is obvious as their tower is up on Talcott Mountain. Meanwhile I can get a weak signal on an analog TV in Southington depending on which antenna I'm using and whether or not I stand on my head while holding the antenna and whether or not I stick out my tongue. <smirk>

I'm in Middletown, and I get WRNT WHCT and WRDM all pretty close to the same. If you have locals on Dish just tune to WHCT and figure it looks like that without all the jumping around and with better color, I don't know why they have so many problems getting it, I imagine we're about the same distance from the transmitter site. In other terms, about a 4 out of 5 signal.

Kraze,

Actually the problems with WHCT-LP were not problems with Dish Network, rather problems with WHCT-LP's equipment used to receive the programming from Azteca America. Something was out of adjustment. I know this because the station would become almost crystal clear when they were showing commercials originating from WHCT-LP and not from Azteca America. I know the difference because as soon as they'd go back to Azteca America commercials/programming, the signal would go south again. WHCT-LP also just fixed their problems yesterday. They're now watchable. No jumping, scrambling, or heavy snow. Just light snow is noticable in their signal now, which makes it obvious that Dish picks up WHCT-LP via an antenna rather than using a microwave uplink. I still don't know why they carry WHCT-LP rather than WRDM-CA. Telemundo gets higher ratings than Azteca America.

The picture I had before it started getting jumpy on Dish network's WHCT was very stable, then when it was bouncing all over the place on Dish, I had almost no problems either, just a slight pulling at the very top. Checking it right now, both are stable, mine has a little more snow, but much more color.

I take it back, they are dead again, WRNT seems to have lost it's network feed again, and is just transmitting a black picture with ID in the lower left corner (which is ALWAYS there).
