WROC/WUHF hires!

Well it looks like this is the first story in quite about some going into 8, not coming out. From RNYN:

A new face is coming to WROC/WUHF. Next week Meghan Backus will join the station as a reporter. Today was her last day at WSHM, the CBS affiliate serving Western Massachusetts. For the past year she has served as a producer as well as a weekend reporter. Backus is no stranger to the Rochester area. She graduated as Valedictorian in 2002 from Caledonia-Mumford High School. From there she went on to St. Bonaventure University where she earned a bachelors degree in journalism and mass communication.

Best of luck to Ms. Backus!

I guess when you graduate from Cal-Dumb, even a Nexstar job is considered career advancement.

That was completely uncalled for; I should be slapped. ;D

Yeow

Man, the poor kid is barely out of St. Bona, gets a job in a mid-sized market near home, and she's getting harshed-on about her high school.

You're right. You should be slapped.

Good luck, Meghan, and don't let your Nexstar experience lead you to believe that ALL TV works like that.

Alright - don't get weepy on me or anything. It's a Livingston County thing - you wouldn't understand.

Seriously, good luck to Meghan.

We never tipped cows in Livingston County. They already earned a liveable wage.

The Cal-Dumb comment was uncalled for, considering I am a Senior at this school and want to go into the journalism field. If anything, our school is one of the most competitive among students in the county.

Apparently they don't teach humor there. Get over yourself.

Throwing insults about HS on a TV board ??? Can't we all come to terms and agree that all high schools, public or private just suck period? and that your typical professor and employer won't ever give a darn? Hell it was hard for me to even care when I was in high school...8)

Just a little good-natured ribbing from Avon to Cal-Mum. I told you I should be slapped. :D

My brother-in-law and several close friends are Cal-Mum grads.

Ahh, I see. Lose a football game to them or something? :D

Actually, we lost them all to Cal-Mum. Back then, everybody did. That was in the middle of their 46-game win streak. That's impressive, no matter how you look at it.

I've done enough damage here. I'm out.

I too wish this young lady the best of luck at Channel 8. Hopefully her career at 8 won't take the same road as many of her predecessors.

Kevin Carroll is the New Sports Reporter at WROC/WUHF, Kevin Carroll Come from Rnews

Going from the frying pan to the fire. One would think there is more stability at R-News than at WROC TV. Whatever! I wish the guy good luck; he will need it working for Nexstar.

Kevin worked for our affiliate in Jamestown. He'd do live shots for us from the Bills' home games, but that was about it.
