I was listening to the Rangers pregame show on KSKY on my way home. When it was time for the legal ID, I heard KESN Allen Dallas Ft. Worth not KSKY Balch Springs.

I assume KSKY carries the Rangers when the Mavs are playing, then. Didn't know that.

KSKY brings the feed up via isdn, espn then plays everything (id's, commercials, bumpers) and KSKY just airs it.
It's espns broadcast, just coming from ksky's signal.

This isn't the first time it's happened (twice last week), nor will it be the last...if the Mavs play next Monday I guarantee it will happen again!

The next conflict will be on April 23. I understand about KESN is producing the games from their studios and KSKY just airing the games because of the Mavs conflict. I am just wondering why they did not cover up the ID, that's all.
Likely because the board op was told not to. I've seen this before in other markets.
Anyway, "How you durrring?"
radi0avenger said:hmmm maybe I misunderstood. The stations can ID over each other, just like a main station IDs on a translator, but the translator, or in this case, the station doing the rebroadcast, must ID itself. Regardless of if it IDs the other station or not. Are you hearing both stations ID? If so, that's legal.
DToTheJ said:KESN should start keeping these cats on their toes... Have the announcers refer to "103.3 ESPN" at random times. Heck, even get Rangers players involved.
mic_check said:Fly's first paragraph nails what the operation is pretty closely. Ksky is just subleasing it's signal out to KESN. That's the agreement between the two companies. You dont have to like it, you just have to accept it, salemjedi.
