WROR and WMJX, music programming musingsw

While overhearing WROR at a Dunkin' Donuts this morning, they actually pulled Sara by Fleetwood Mac out of the archives!

While it was nice to hear that song on the radio again, it finally dawned on me what I could not quite put my finger on. WROR is not really a dominant 80's station, but rather mostly the same animal as before with just a bunch of 80's songs dropped in!

Although their official positioning is The 80's and More! Their actual positioning should be more like "The Greatest Hits Of The 70's and 80's" instead!

I have noticed that Magic 106.7 is now indeed playing more of a smidgen of 80's tunes as well, pulling out songs that haven't been heard in awhile also. I heard both "Let's Groove"-Earth, Wind, and Fire, and "When I See You Smile"-Bad English within a fairly short time of each other.

Now, this is just speculation, but do you think when Entercom handed the Beasley that the new owner slipped in a conditional that Entercom would not tweak Magic's playlist for a year? I am not saying that this was the case at all, however I am just thinking is all instead.

Anyway, regardless it all seems to be working very well for the both of them!

Now, if only one of them would be daring enough to pur Barry Scott back on the air too?

Barry's show is exclusive to Easy 99.1, who also has been playing "Sara" for quite some time
