Oldies103 sounds more festive.There's more excitement and the staff is better and knows how to put it over more without sounding like they'd rather be groaning.It also hurts that every single break on WROR has to contain the words "Loren and Wally".OK.We get it.They work there.I understand why they do it as they beat Lander's name to death on Mix too but give it a rest.It's annoying.Granted they appeal to an audience that thinks whoopie cushions and hand buzzers are cutting edge comedy but they do have an audience.That audience knows it.Stop with the promos every single break.
I agree I think Oldies-103 presents it bettter. Also, it seems that their air staff actually likes what they're playing (more than the people at WROR) I enjoy listening to Paula Street and Karen Blake. They do a nice job with it.

Like WMJX and the late WQSX, WROR won't be repeating this mistake next year. Hopefully a repeat of the WROR Fugitive promotion will bring back any listeners that they lose.

One kid e-mailed all scared that he was on the "naughty" list! But, Santa considers effort!
A lot of laughs, and you don't have to be a kiddo or a parent to appreciate it.

I agree with just about everyone else that Oldies 103.3 will win the "Jingle Bell Run". I believe that WROR should have stayed classic hits. They could have even promoted the classic hits format by saying something like "we welcome former Oldies listeners" or "while your old station is playing Christmas music, we're still playing the hits of the 60s and 70s". It was a good opportunity to pick up listeners that had the potential to stay with them.

As a die hard WROR listener I have to agree that Oldies 103 is presenting it better. Paul Perry is doing a great job as Santa, but the only other jock who is even pretending to like it is Julie Devereaux. I haven't had a chance to listen to Paula Street yet because I really am a loyal Julie Devereaux fan, but Karen Blake is really doing a great job with it and really seems to enjoy talking to the callers.

Even though I've given up both WROR and Oldies until after Christmas, I do still occasionally tune into Loren and Wally because, with all their talking, they really only play music once or twice per half hour.
While I havent heard this year's dose of "Walking Round in Women's Underwear", I did hear (either yesterday or the day before) the much-played and always funny "Wally's Visit to Tiffany's" story. ;D

Yes, those things may make for an amusing morning show....but, adding oldies to the list of missing formats in Boston means that the FM dial is even MORE boring than usual. It's really too bad that both stations had to go oldies. Add in the nearby (rimshot?) stations doing this (mostly ACs) and you have waaaay too much of it.
Basically, you're left with rock and AC. And talk (lest we forget).

My #1 beef with the Christmas format is not the music but the fact that they start it BEFORE THANKSGIVING!
My idea for next season would be to start slowly one track an hour on Nov 3rd,jump up to 2 on the 17th then go full tilt the Friday AFTER Thanksgiving.
