WROR

Still silence on 98.5 HD2 and 105.7 HD2 (unless it fires up the occasional song).Meanwhile 106.7 will sooner or later flip their HD1 and HD2 signals.Often the all Yule is on by now (on main signal).Thanksgiving quite late this year but the allure of making $$$ with all Christmas appeals to them.

The sports podcasts are back on WBZ-FM 98.5 HD2. The "Men from Maine" comedy skits are back on WROR FM 105.7 HD2. (Only available on HD radio receivers)

I wonder why WROR HD2 had an intermittent classic hits format for a few days? I never heard a format before where songs and ads played with several minutes of silence between each one.

Maybe technical glitches on both or perhaps nobody around to load things to automation..or perhaps changes coming, or they wanted to put something else on but had second thoughts..?

BTW, @bostonradio tweeted:

98.5’s hosts also plug 98.5 HD2 as home of NU’s hockey and bball broadcasts this season."

NU's hockey season has been underway for a while. They're 5-4-2. Has anyone heard a game on HD2 yet?

Santa's on his way but ROR
may have just meant this with their
"hint"

Smart move. The Christmas flip seems to work best for AC. The two examples of classic hits Christmas flips (KOOL in Phoenix and WOGL in Philly) didn't work out so well. Plus, they're #1! Why flip when you're already #1?

WOGL is owned by Entercom. Entercom bought WBEB the AC in Philly that does Christmas Music every year. That is the reason that WOGL doesn't do Christmas Music anymore.

KOOL is doing quite well, but not #1. The October book shows them 4th in 12+ and 5th in 25-54 and 9th in 18-49.

Likewise, over the July - August -September period, WOGL was 5th in 12+, 8th in 25-54 and 18-49.

Other AC's as well as classic hits stations seem to be the most affected by the "Christmas Station" in most markets.

I was referring to WROR. No need for them to flip to Christmas.

Absolutely. They are #1 12+, 25-54, 35-64 and even #2 in 18-49. Not worth the risk given the examples you cited of classic hits stations that tried to do Christmas music and tanked.
