WRPQ

WRPQ is pretty bangin for a 250/6 watter. I was playing with my mediocre Radio Shack DX-399 radio today scanning the AM dial for the first time in about a year and noticed I was able to listen to WRPQ in my living room in Kenosha with a faint but listenable signal. About 5 times better then 1540 WTKM. I was able to get a moderate signal in Racine on the van radio about 2 years ago.

Another time I was able to do the same thing when the big northeast blackout hit in 2003 and kicked the Toronto 740 off. This time it was at night when the station was running only 6 watts.

Are they still running Jones AC or is it another service now? Haven't listened in about 3 years.

Amazing what a low AM frequency can do HUH? Their 6 watts at night does an amazing job!

The lower you are the better:)

I think it is still Jones, last time I listened they were local mornings 6-8am I think. Also the last time my family had a car which had a radio that could reveice AM stereo, WPRQ was in Stereo, no way to check if they still are.

Yes, it is still Jones. The morning show is no longer local. They're on the bird 24/7 other than high school sports, and yes they are still broadcasting in AM Stereo. Funny thing is, I live 12 miles from the station and 740 from Toronto comes in better than WRPQ at night!!
