WRRD becomes WGKB

I see they Dropped the Directional Pattern and moved to a new Transmitter site but why only 250 watts couldn't they be at least 1kw non Directional?

Night power is determined based on the interference that would be given to other stations on the main and adjacent channels. If WRRD could have gotten more power, they would likely have done so. But it's obvious that the protection of other stations required lower power.

Remember, the directional antenna system was created about 90 years ago so that two stations could be on the same frequency... in one of the first cases, WTMJ in Milwaukee and WSUN in St Petersburg could operate without interfering with each other....

Perhaps with 1500 in Zion 250 non directional was the best they could do. Or more likely, they are just wanting to run the minimum power required since the AM will exist solely for feeding the translator.
