Northwest Jersey WRRH 88.7 FM Ramapo-Indian Hills NJ

In a fit of boredom leading to a fit of nostalgia (I'm 72), I Googled WRRH and found a long-discontinued thread about the station. I attended Indian Hills HS in Oakland, the sister school of Ramapo Regional, from 1967–1971. My brother, seven years older, attended RRHS and helped start WRRH. We at IHHS had a tiny studio that was wired to the xmitter at Ramapo. We advertised it as a "10,000 milliwatt" station to sound more impressive. Our staff advisor was Anton Bizub, a history teacher. I was a DJ and produced specials, like "Eric Clapton, Blues to Rock," and wrote articles like, "Everything you wanted to know about tape recorders but were too dumb to ask." Fun stuff. It was my desire to teach the ignorant about the wonderful world of rock music. I taped the music at home on my Sony 355 reel-to-reel (Whoever heard of copyright laws?) but did the announcing live. I also partnered with my friend Joachim Blunck (who went on to become a TV producer) for "The Clem & Garth Hour" and "The Sven and Olaf Hour," adlibbed variety shows, among others. Good times. I don't recall the year we started, but I didn't participate in my senior year, going on to manage tech stuff for morning announcements and theater at IHHS. Enough about me. Anyone else remember those days?

I joined WRRH in my sophomore year (1972-1974) and remember Joachim and Dave Mendelson who were both seniors. The station was in this tiny room behind the gym weigh room which was on the second floor. I worked the board and produced several radio plays recorded on my reel-to-reel. But when I started playing anti-war songs I was kicked off the radio.
