We Shared call sign WRRH and the transmitter with Ramapo HS just looking for poeple that were involved in that station between 1978 to 1982 I was the station manager my last year.
Looking for maybe some pictures of the station or people that remember it.
It was only a 10 wattf mono station.
Please respond and let me know if you heard of the station or was involved in it.
Thanks
John

WRRH is fondly remembered as the first student-operated high school FM in the state. "Student-operated," of course, differentiates it from WBGO-FM in Newark, which was operated by their school board as a purely instructional enterprise.

Interestingly, the path blazed by 'RRH initiated a string of student-run FMs in the state, including but not limited to WHPH at Hanover Park High School, WJSV at Morristown High School and others, including WVPH at Piscataway High School and WVHP at Highland Park H.S. There also remains Hunterdon Central High's FM in Flemington amongst others.

Each one of these stations was founded and operated by students who saw the value in a local, student run radio station; and, a school board, superintendent and principal that appreciated their dedication, assuring that they were adequately funded and consequently helping to keep them on the air over the years.

Still missing WHPH!

Okay, this is six years late but I just found this posting. I was a DJ on WRRH in 1968-69 with a daily hour-long jazz program called Jazz Fundamental. I went on to DJ at the University of Maryland and was out of radio until I joined Radio Free Burning Man in 2002-03 (and this year broadcast on it remotely), Festival FM at the 2005 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and for the past three years on Radio Fairfax (Virginia) hosting Dr. Zarkov's Tiki Lounge every Wednesday 5-6 pm EST on www.radiofairfax.org. I'm suprised to see that it lasted at Ramapo for another 20 years beyond when I was there because I was told a number of folks were trying to wrest the frequency away from the school once FM became popular and profitable.

Well, this is 11 years late, but I just stumbled upon this post. I went to IHHS 1975 - 1977 and was an assistant manager at the station. I did some DJ work and enjoyed maintaining the equipment. Ira Hosid was an electronics teacher at the school and was the student adviser. It was a great learning experience and I enjoyed the comradery. I went on to join my college radio station and have worked professionally in the audio visual field for 30+ years. I would be great to hear from any alumi.
