WRSA, WFAD silent?

They were listed as being so in Wikipedia and now I find this:

http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/117435/emf-buys-texas-pair
>>RADIO BROADCASTING SERVICES, INC. has applied for a Silent STA for WRSA/ST. ALBANS, VT
"due to lack of an audio path to the transmitter."..ADDISON BROADCASTING COMPANY, INC. has asked the FCC for a Silent STA for WFAD-A/MIDDLEBURY, VT "due to a PA failure."

Now that WCPV has the Sox, the WEEI site listing of Red Sox affiliates says not only are they no longer on WJOY, but no longer on WRSA or WFAD (long time affiliates). When I saw on Wiki they
were both silent I didn't know if that was permanent or temp. Now I see the above, dated 4/16/13.
1420 and 1490 had been // Cruisin 93.7 I believe (haven't been up that way for a few months...)

Thanks for the post, good to know what's going on. I noticed 1420 in St. Albans went dark a couple of weeks ago. I may have been one of the few people who listened to it as it's kind of local for me.

At times like this you have to question the sustainability of a 1KW AM station... well, then there's WIRY in Plattsburgh. Maybe hyper-local is the savior for AM radio?

(Oldies on AM still sound better !!!!)

Regards,
Joe

Hyper-local is absolutely the only way to stay viable with any low-power radio station.

I once worked at WWSR and will never forget the experience. I still smell garlic on Sunday mornings.
