WRSG Radio to get new studios

Tyler Consolidated High School's radio station, WRSG, owned by the Tyler County Board of Education will receive new studios, beginning at the end of the current school year. The studios will have all new furniture and broadcasting equipment, and will share space with the equally-new TV studios. Right now, the raw space allows for a lot of imagination. We thank the Tyler County Board of Education for their belief in both radio and TV, as other schools and school boards have eliminated their stations.

As of May 22nd, 2021, WRSG Radio will have a new radio teacher/station manager. I have submitted my resignation letter to the Tyler County (WV) Board of Education. I've had the privilege of being the station manager since its inception, basically doing two full time jobs at once from 2001 to 2015 (I was a full-time teacher from 1977-2015). I thank the Board for the privilege. I also thank both Scott Northcraft and Tom Taggart from SEVEN RANGES RADIO for untold thousands of hours' worth of sacrifice, from bringing the station back after two hard drive meltdowns (Scott) to quarterly reports and license renewals for FREE since 2001, along with bringing the station back from the dead in the mid 2000's after a lightning strike fried the transmitter. I could not completely relate what these two gentlemen have done. I will continue with commercial radio for SEVEN RANGES in any capacity they need. During my final few months, I will do everything possible to leave WRSG in the best-possible condition for my successor(s). As of May 22nd at 10:30 a.m., the Tyler County Board of Education AND my successor(s) will be completely responsible for WRSG, as SEVEN RANGES RADIO will also be moving on as of that date. It is my fervent wish and prayer that WRSG's best days lie ahead. BTW, I will not resign from 'radiodiscussions.com'. I look forward to the continuance of my radio education from all of the talented people on this site.

Your successor has "big shoes to fill". Born in WV with family connections still in the Mountain State, but living in GA, I have followed this board for a long time and your post were always interesting.

Thank you, "secondchoice." I'll still be here, as I definitely have much more to learn about radio, even after 20+ years, but not as much as my successor(s) (LOL). I hope that the station owners and license holder are able to keep WRSG compliant with all FCC rules and regulations, as Mr. Tom Taggart, co-owner of SEVEN RANGES RADIO prepared the original and subsequent paperwork for the license and subsequent renewals, as well as preparing quarterly reports and other documentation FREE OF CHARGE. My last day has been extended to June 3rd. After that date, I will have absolutely nothing to do with the ALL NEW WRSG. Those who follow me have an entirely-new game plan. I will finish with this: "Every plan ever created never failed on paper."

One of the hallmarks of the ALL NEW KNIGHTS 91 that debuts this fall is that students will be on the air live from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., then will do voice tracking from then until 10 p.m. Students will also be able to make requests during the day. Discuss among yourselves. I am not trying to start a ****storm. Has any other high school radio station incorporated these elements? The new radio team is rightly proud of all-new studios, equipment, music, et al. Every so often, pictures of progress appear on their new FB page.

What is working is in Parkersburg, namely WVAM on 1450 AM and also translators 98.1 (P'burg) and 107.9 (St. Mary's). Scott Shannon's TRUE OLDIES CHANNEL seems to be just what was needed there. With the two translators, I'm good to go anytime heading south from my home in Tyler County. It's definitely a welcome addition on the radio dial, and the stream sounds good as well. (sorry-moved to new thread)
