Sad to see such dumbing down, but again, even for the non-coms, it's all about the Benjamins. Another sad commentary on the dumbed-down public is when I see folks who post to this board and others, and it's grammar be damned! Trying to correct someone once, I was told that these boards aren't a spelling bee! Talk about pathetic....
I do put some effort into my postings here, but there are times when my mind goes blank and I just can't get a word spelled correctly. Spell check offers some suggestions, but quite often not the word you are trying to use. If this was for work or something important like that, sure I'd get out my Funk and Wagnall Dictionary and look up the word, but this isn't my job so I don't. Frankly, I don't want someone here making an issue of it. I've had folks lambaste me for misspelling someone's name. Some of you may have a lot of time to write and correct, proof read, etc. Some of us may simply be expressing ourselves quickly and may not have as good of grammar or writing skills, etc, as some others. This isn't a grammar or spelling site. What bugs me more than misspelled words is the code words like BTW, OMG, LOL, etc, that I usually don't remember what they mean. If you want to get picky, frankly I could do without those smiley faces and the things as well or those WHO WRITE IN ALL CAPS or all lower case including the first word of a sentence, even when typing a name like president obama, george w. bush, wilmington delaware, wdel, etc. So each of us have our pet peeves, but I come here to hear what you folks think, many of you are still working in radio. I just choose to not sweat the small stuff. Hopefully you can too.
Radio is the passion here, not being an English grammar, spelling scholar. So I guess on this one, we'll have to agree to disagree.
i am not the best speller.i am the first one to admit.
i do not mind the spelling of a word corrected IF at the same time the valadity of my point is not consittered lower just because of a spelling error.a statement that is made should be judged by itself not how the words are spelled.
