WRTO-1200

WRTO already has a construction permit to boost their power from 10,000w days 1,000w nights to 20,000w days 4,500w nights
they were waiting for some kind of permit from chicago for their new tower site at 127th and eggleston (in between haltsed and
state),but just driving by there 2 nights ago it is completely covered by trees and does not look like they are really ready to
build towers there any time soon. just a side note since they have been digital at night there signal sounds so bad and hisses so
terrible it is really painful to listen too. So I dont know why they are even bothering to build a new site at all since it seems like
they are trying to kill off the station anyway. As for WONX they have filed an application to go 7,000w day 2,500w night from
their Skokie site. Their Carrol Stream application was denied. The thing about the WONX app is they bought 3 or 4 smaller
stations just to kill them off that I strongly disagree with ,but i already posted about that so iI wont babble about it here.I hope that answered your question somewhat.

The story I heard was that Univision was looking for a buyer for the station and was going to leave the upgrade to the new owner...if there ever is one...

I wonder if the current transmitter site for 1200 might be slated for a big box developement in the future?

The new location has 22,236 people in the 1000 mv/m, I wonder how much effort thats going to take to resolve interferance requests.

It was interesting how low the power was for RTO when they applied for an auxillary permit on the 1450 tower a few years ago. If they have to run without a site for awhile, it dosn't seem like they would have much coverage based off that.

It's too bad this allocation was not given to replace 1280 in Aurora back in the 80's. IMO White Elephant. I'll be happy when they shut down the IBOC however, I hear the hiss everytime I listen to 1180.

Did they get there permit for the 1450 tower? I never knew they applied for that. I also did not know they were trying to sell it off
but that makes sense considering the way it sounds and the way they are running it. I actually remember them when they were
playing tropical music and I might be wrong but didn't they do alright in the ratings? I actually liked listening to them sometimes
it was something different. kinda of like 1180 which i cant hear most of the time because of 1200's IBOC.
