WRTR

WRTR is testing on 105.9, signal is fair here in south Shelby county.
Doesn't sound like it's going to cover Bham like some had suggested previously.

Radio stations come and go.
Does anything last forever?

they actually are there pernamently now, the Testing was at a lower power due to the hurricane, they went Full power yesterday at 8:20 pm, and it's apparently just barely making it up here to toney, not enough to be audible, but since last night WNRQ from nashville does not come in as good as it did when my antenna is pointed to T-Town, it indeed will not put a local signal into bham, it is however in the fringe except for the far eastern side of bham, I listened to it last night over a temporary stream from the Bham area, and it did not fade one bit, but on 105.5 @ 6kw being received at the same location I was listening to the stream from, it would hardly come in at all even during good conditions, I kinda compare it to how WXFL 96.1 in Florence / Muscle Shoals , with their 20kw signal (WRTR is now 25kw) makes it over here to Huntsville & surrounding areas, it does have it's dead spots, but still comes in good enough to listen to in the car without it quickly fading to static as soon as you move
______________

Yes, as Dingo said, the station is at full power. I can confirm that it is loud and clear in mid-Gardendale in my car, that is the most northern extent the signal goes. Some pirate or transmitter (a country station of all things) in the Morris area screws with the signal, otherwise it would go further. I havent been downtown yet, but barring interference, the signal should easily go over SW Bham and probably most of downtown. Anything east of that I seriously doubt. Its not really enough to say it will cover Birmingham, but no doubt WRTR will have a Birmingham audience.

If I were to make a comparison, I would say that it is almost as good as The X's current signal, just doesn't quite have the coverage. This, I think, has alot to do with so much interference on that particular frequency. I heard the pirate in Morris, then later a snippet of WENN, and even for a short time The X itself cut into the signal on my drive.

I would say that Id hate another Clear Channel station coming near this area, but hearing a classic rocker without so many commercials is nice.

Edit: Dingo has informed me that may be 105.7 from Addison. I dont think it is, as it came in strongly at an intersection not near the fringe, and then faded out to the north and east. It was not at all recievable going west of said intersection. Who knows, could've just been one of those valleys. Either way, it is one of at least 3 total signals interfering on 105.9, and that was my point.
______________

I can't hear them here in Cullman, I've got strong signals from WQAH 105.7 and WTAK 106.1.

WNRQ is coming in as strong as normal here now, may have just been a coincidence
