I posted this on the Tampa board and thought it would fit here as well.

WRXK is stunting right now. All Metallica and no jocks. The imaging is gone as well, with "K-Rock" thrown in every once and a while. Top of hour says something to the effect of "6am Friday morning we'll be ready to rock. Will you?" Should be interesting.

Crap..that would be sweet if he was programming it.. that would mean classic metal and todays metal and throw away the 94-01 crap. We want.. Disturbed, Godsmack, Avenge Sevenfold, Finger Eleven, Sixx AM, Seether, Velvet Revelover, Alter Bridge, Three Days Grace, Alcholin Azz and more top 10 hard rock. Also classic metal with Skid Row, Poison, Queenryche, Whitesnake, Lillian Axe, Slaughter, Pantera, Megadeth, Suicidle Tendencies, Testament, Ozzy, Ratt, Warrent, Dokken etc etc etc

Best radio station that I found was wmms.com (cleveland) they play all rock music!!!
 
HaHa, Lillian didnt get alot of air play but man did they have alot of good songs.. especially off of Love & War .. They had a good following.

Anyways Stunting is now Metallica and AcDc hmm next be GNR for Weds 6am? Then Ozzy 6am Thurs? Then Online at 6am Friday.. btw why 6am? How about Noon or 6pm when people are listening??? Oh well dont matter as long as they play classic metal.
 
;D Thanks for the vote guys. But, I plan on staying retired from radio. While I do miss it every once and a while, The voice-over business making us a lot more money than radio and none of the headaches. :D
With the addition of AC/DC today, I'm going to guess they are going to go the "Everything that Rocks" route. With the monster book Bob had here. They may figure the broad music approach will get them some numbers. Lord know they need some.

Brian.. why didnt you guys at 98rock ever do a Metal show that wasnt quite as heavy as the show you had on sat nights.. I mean bands like.. Metallica, Megadeth,IronMaiden,Anthrax,Pantera,.. I mean I know you had them thrown in...but alot was death metal...and well I think that killed the listeners. Also Perfect hair was good at first..but got boring after awhile cause it was done at Noon, Ted was a XXXX and teased the bands all the time, and it was too cheesy and no real heavy stuff. Perfect Hair and Metal mixed...kinda what Hard on Sat Nights is doing on Jrr..

Well 6am was GNR and Thurs I said wil be Ozzy..... Actually I am the music director... LOL NOT JK.. I wish. Maybe Def Lep on Thurs or Ozzy actually like I said.
 
OMG ANOTHER STATION(MUSIC DIRECTOR) THAT IS AFRAID TO PLAY CLASSIC METAL.. THEIR RATINS WILL REMAIN CRAP AS ALONG AS THEY PLAY LED ZEPPELIN EVERY HOUR, THE BANDS HE MENTIONED ABOVE, AND ALSO THE REST OF THE 70S AND EARLY 80S STUFF. I MEAN WE BEEN HEARING THIS MUSIC FOR 30 YEARS + EVERY HOUR, EVERY DAY IN EVERY CITY THROUGHOUT AND CLASSIC ROCKS RATINGS CONTINUE TO BE NEAR THE BOTTOM OF THE RATINGS IN EVERY CITY.

OK SO THEY ARE DOING ALL THINGS THAT ROCKED....FINE BUT GET RID OF THE MUSIC ABOVE AND PLAY MORE CLASSIC METAL IS ALL WE ASK AND STOP PLAYING A BAND WITHIN 3 HRS CAUSE THERE ARE MORE THAN 50 BANDS OUT THERE THAT ROCKED ARENAS IN THE 80S EARLY 90S. AS SAID BEFORE, WE WANT, PANTERA,MEGADETH,ANTHRAX,SUICIDLE TENDENCIES, TESLA,RATT,WINGER,WARRENT,SLAUGHTER ARE JUST TO NAME A FEW...AND BTW WHY DONT THEY PLAY ALICE COOPER? MEDLIN, COWHEAD, OTHER DJS AND MUSIC DIRECTORS, IF YOU BECOME A MUSIC DIRECTOR FOR A CLASSIC ROCK STATION...GO OUTSIDE THE BOX AND PLAY WHAT WE WANT AND NOT WHAT THE #s SHOW CAUSE THEY WONT SHOW CLASSIC METAL CAUSE ITS NEVER PLAYED.
 
Just and update on their new format. I can't figure it out. They have gone more hair since the flip. I'm not sure what they are trying to do. There whole ad blitz is "Get Rocked".
As our resident "classic metal" guru has demonstrated. The "Classic Metal" guys cannot stand the Peal Jam, Nirvana stuff. On the other end, The Pearl Jam, Nirvana guys can't stand the hair stuff.
It looks like they are trying to be the 'Bob" of the rock world. The problem is, rock is very segmented. The "metal" guys HATE the Seattle sound. And the Seattle sound guys HATE the hair. On top of that, the classic rock guys HATE them both.
They really need to pick a direction and hire some entertaing talent to bring it together.(Stan and Haney aren't it) It all comes down to the talent on the air. Music is such a small part of the equasion.
Oh well. We will see how it plays out. At least I have my Sirius to keep me company.

(BTW - I know my spelling is crap right now. Give me a break! it's 2am)

your accessment of the station is right on, and research is showing (finally!) that if radio wants to be more than an ipod that plays commercials, bad ones at that, talent is the key. Compelling jocks that speak the language of the audience is essential. Tough to find with all the market to market vtracking thats going on, and no place for upcoming talent to hone their craft. The latest info on how tsl is way up with the 14-24 demograph is the best news radio has had in a loooong time, a new audience discovering the medium. I hope to be a part of the new revolution, scheduling and executing a pinched playlist handed down from corporate with no room for creativity is getting very very old. :-\
 
Medlin is right on. I guess they want every generation of classic rock listeners. I think the 70s are overplayed in every city. Same with Pure rock stations playing 90s grunge over and over again. For classic rock.. I would be more 80s metal-early 90s. Them listeners will quickly change from Talk Radio and Adult AC back to to the station, cause right now.. thats what alot listen to or old CDs/tapes.

Medlin should get a job as MD somewhere, cause Im sure he will do well with what he puts on the radio.


I already have a complaining thread on 98Rock bitching about about the lack of New Music they play and the 90s grunge they are stuck on. They have STP ranked #8...its like.. WTF, maybe #188.. I love GNR and Metallica..but I wouldnt have them ranked in the top 100 on my playlist unless its a "NEW" song. Well Yeah I would..haha
