WRXP.......THE TIME IS NOW!

Before I continue with this post, yes this is a dance music activist writing something positive about rock! ;D But here goes.....

With K-Rock most likely disappearing from the radio dial, this is the time that WRXP HAS to step it up! Your station WILL BE "inheriting" the K-Rock listenership. It's now time to find that "focus" that most people complain 'RXP does NOT have. It's either, cater to that younger demographic than Q-104 because 'RXP would continue to lose if it tried to keep going after Q-104 (yes I do read "books" other than 'KTU and Pulse).

It is time to PROMOTE this station. Hit up railroad billboards, highway billboards, bars, whatever it takes! This station can no longer remain "silent"! Otherwise, if the station keeps doing what it has been doing, the next format flip could be this one.

I know I really shouldn't cover "rock" territory but this is so obvious here.

Dag, Tony, you nailed this one!! We radio crusaders/activists are VERY VERY proud of you.. :)

Andrea

I hate to ruin the back patting party here, but NOBODY is listening to K-Rock. WRXP is going to inherit NOTHING!!!

Do you honestly think IF K-Rock goes away WRXP will shoot to a 3.0 share, or even a 2.0?

considering that emmis has no money to do anything with that station and the current management is living in a world of confusion, look for Chill to be back before Spring. My money says, no promotional support for a station who's MD left after only a few months. The writing is on the wall

I think 2.0 is certainly a possibility if they can grab a significant chunk of K-Rock listeners. But I agree that veering towards newer, more cutting-edge rock is the best move, which of course is the opposite of what K-Rock has been doing.

Doesn't most of WXRK:s (weak) ratings come from Opie & Anthony? I don't see the O&A listeners to tune into WRXP.

"Focus" is not found in Leslie Framms vocabulary. It will not happen under her leadership. Sure she is well liked as a person and that's why she lasted so long in Atlanta. Being a friend to all the record pigs and clueless GM's have kept Framm employed.

The station sounds like a hodge podge of music. Is it classic rock? Is it alternative? Is it grunge? Gain an identity and stick with it. My thinking is that they need to be "alternative", and sound that way. Don't be like everyone else. Nobody really knows about the station, those that do certainly to seem to grasp it, so just take a risk and be different. They have a few former WHTG-FM jocks from the ol "FM 106.3" days....just do it.

RXP's am show is a NIGHTMARE. Last thing I want to hear in morning as a new yorker is a country bumpkin and stories of the time you brought Cracker out on stage in '95. jmho

Why do we need to keep bring this station up over and over and over and over?
Is this the best you can come up with?! Is NYC radio that boring?javascript:void(0);
Last ten times I came to this board its Wrxp .Dont like it?Buy it ! And put Polka on it...

The station just played the Allman Brothers Band, Van Halen and The Who (which you can hear on Q) while also playing Sheryl Crow (which you can hear on PLJ) in the SAME HOUR. Nothing will happen until they ditch the dinosaur rock and Hot AC. Let's get ourselves a nice modern rocker on here for a 2.0, shall we?

Don't forget the straight-up AC as well, with the likes of Rod Stewart and Elton John and Heart!

I was looking at 101.9 on yes.com and they played Tiny Dancer by Elton John....how is THAT rock? It's an experience, all right.

Emmis needs to get their act together. 101.9 WRXP and Movin 93.9 are jokes. Such sad programming shouldn't be on good signals in the top 2 markets.

Would it be better if Emmis put Movin on 101.9 instead of Rock? I am thinking Emmis didn't try that from what went on with Mix and KTU. Maybe Emmis could just have two stations and sell off 101.9. CBS might buy it as they only have 3 FMs as Clear Channel has 5. Then CBS could place AMP Radio on 101.9 to go head to head with z100. Then as for 92.3 move one of CBS Radio's AM stations their or just make it a better rock station.

MOViN stations are a dying breed. St. Louis, Dallas, Jacksonville all recently gone. R/AC, especially the MOViN brand, has shown little growth in a year or two. I think it's over.

Seeing how Emmis does MOViN/LA....I would hope not

I was saying Emmis maybe should of put Movin on 101.9 when the flipped away from Smooth Jazz instead of the current rock format. Maybe it would of done better rating wise.

As for WRXP and Movin 93.9 LA their both bad ideas Emmis had just like that bad idea CBS Radio had with FREE FM which most of them are now music stations with the last one 97.1 going AMP Radio last Friday

So let's see here, WRXP's best chance comes if a station that ranks higher and feels it is not successful enough changes format?

That's so weak on so many levels. The people at Emmis need to grow a spine.
