WRXP to Carry "Loveline"

AllAccess is reporting that 'RXP 101.9 will air the syndicated relationship show 10-12 midnight, weeknights, starting tomorrow.
This program seems to be aired every few years on different rock stations in New York. When was it last broadcast in this market?

Can someone at Billboard and other industry sites stop referring to them as a AAA station??

Pack it in boys, it's turning into the old K-Rock debacle again. Do they think that a 35 year old really wants to hear about whiney teenagers and their weiner problems? (And I don't mean Anthony)

I know 102.7 carried the show under three different formats: first, during the waning days of their legendary rock format as WNEW-FM; then, as part of the "FM Talk @ 102.7" lineup, right after Tom Leykis; and in the final phase of their all-talk format known as just "102.7 WNEW."

I don't think 92.3 ever carried the show, as "Free-FM" or under either of their two existences as a rock station. As "Free-FM," 92.3 had a live and local late night show co-hosted by comedian Jackie Clarke and something called Jake Fogelnest.

For what it's worth, Mediabase now considers WRXP an Alternative station, which makes a *little* more sense than the AAA classification.

This is a bit disappointing for me as the station's playlist seems to open up a bit more at night (specifically with regards to new music), and the 10 O'Clock News is a particularly enjoyable feature that I assume will now be discontinued. I definitely won't be listening to Loveline. But if it helps the station to get better ratings, then good for them I suppose.

It can't be getting good ratings if it's bouncing around from one station to another, let alone be absent from the local airwaves for a spell.

Talk didn't exactly work out too well on 92.3 so this might be a little glimmer of hope for those hoping for 'RXP to flip.
Why? Loveline is on a high note with both of their hosts in the public eye every second! This is a chance to increase the ratings for RXP

But if you air a show that has NOTHING to do with the format at 10pm, is it really going to be a big ratings bump? If you're a rock station, play rock music.

Oh yeah, it's cheaper to run a show off the bird. I forgot. Who cares if it actually fits your format!

"Loveline" has been a staple for two decades on 106.7 KROQ in L.A. Having said that, I always hated the idea of interrupting your music for this chat starring pre-pubescent teens cackling about their love life (poor babies), asking which condom is the most appropriate, or should they even use a condom, etc etc etc........

Your description of Loveline makes it sound like it would fit late nights on NOW ;D

It would fit better on NOW than on WRXP. At least the demo is the same. I'll bet the syndicator is buying the time on RXP to get NYC clearance. Who puts that up on the bird?

PD Leslie Fram is an idiot. She has no say in anything that goes on there and when she does try to do something, it always sucks. Loveline is garbage and they are only doing this for the money Loveline pays them. They rather make a few dollars then actually try to keep playing music and keeping rock alive in NYC. Leslie Fram - The Moron of RXP 101.9. Get a real PD Emmis. Send her back to Alabama or Mississippi or wherever she is from. She sucks on air too. Am just saying.

In fairness to those who made the decision to put Loveline on 'RXP, I believe it is carried by many contemporary rock stations. WRXP is the main contemporary rock station in this area.
Perhaps the demos WRXP and other rock stations attract are appropriate for this show.

...and something called Jake Fogelnest.

LOL The thing known as Jake Fogelnest is now on both SiriusXM Alt Nation and SIRIUSXM U.
As far as I know, LoveLine does well on Alt Rock stations here on KROQ and 91X. In fact, on KROQ, it was pushed back to it's original start time of 10PM. But who knows, CBS is running KROQ into the ground for all I know.
