WRXP up for sale again??

Three letters also spring to mind: C-O-X.

They own stations on Long Island, and currently own no stations in NYC. They could buy up all three NYC stations with uncertain futures. (WFME, WBAI, WRXP), and attempt to break into the market. They could sell their stations currently for sale (CT and Richmond, for example) to offset the costs.

The LI stations are in the New York market and count against the total market caps.

Just a few weeks ago, Cox announced that it was shrinking its radio portfolio, and is selling off a bunch of stations and clusters around the country. They seem to be refocusing their business in other areas right now.

Could CCM+E grab it? They have Radio 104.5 in Philly, and it's doing ok. Assuming it takes a while to find a buyer, say another 2-3 books, they may might gain some decent figures by then. Based on their first couple of months, it sounds like it could actually work this time around.

No, they're at their limit of 5 FM's.

The more I think about this, the more it strikes me that this might be good for Oak Tree. They financed Townsquare's purchase of Millenium. I don't know if they have any investments in any NYC stations yet.

If I was Emmis, I would offer to buy it back at half price. Do country. I bet it would get a at least million cume. Hey I'm thinkin' outside the box.

That's another good thought. I noticed that Emmis retained a percentage of the ownership in these stations, so it's possible if they've refinanced their debt, they could buy controlling interest again.

As for country, Emmis is doing well with Hank in Indianapolis. They might do well to give it a try in other places.

Cumulus owns WRRV in Hudson Valley if they program the station similarly to how they program WRRV I think itll be just like New Rock 101.9. I hope they keep New Rock and the name and all that it is now

Interesting that the Robert Feder column that broke this story has been pulled from his blog, and RBR has an interview with Randy Michaels that says the story is false.

Not gonna happen.

If RXP goes out again, why not bring back Smooth Jazz and bring the WQCD call letters back and call it "CD 101.9" again. I would love to see Smooth Jazz coming Back to NYC.

2nd item in column refers to the Merlin situation in link to Feder's TimeOutChicago.com blog here.

1st item in Larz' ChicagoRadioAndMedia blog linked here.
