WRXP's Brian & Chris - Moving Up From "The Basement"

R-I's News page reports the overnight duo is moving up to the 7 PM-midnight shift later this month, while Brian Phillips has also moved up a slot, filling the void left by Nik Carter.

I wonder: 1) who the new overnight host(s) will be; 2) if the new overnight host(s) will be live or voicetracked; 3) if Brian & Chris are going to voicetrack their new 7 PM-midnight show, just as they did their overnight shift.

Whatever, I'm sure even if RXP is just an automated jukebox during the graveyard shift, it'll certainly be more preferable than the unfunny, dull garbage DJ that Q104 has piped in out of Miami.

WRXP is probably one of the best FM stations to come on the air in the recent few years. I'm glad Emmis is giving this station time to find its legs.

I like RXP but for years I have been saying crank it up a notch throw in some disturbed, Mudvayne, Korn, Limp Bizkit, hair metal etc espcially in the evenings then I would listen religiously

Good Grief! ;D

So Brian is also RXP's Marketing Director, and Chris doubles as the cluster's Lifestyle Engagement Director....

1. This is how people keep their positions in radio these days...by proving that they can and are willing to do multiple jobs regardless of the workload (and probably for the salary of one of those jobs).

2. What exactly does a Lifestyle Engagement Director do? (and don't answer "7 to midnight!") This would seem to be one of those job titles that would not have survived the budget slashing of recent times, unless it's a glorified title for "account executive." And could Chris potentially rise to the position of Vice President of Lifestyle Engagement?

Hair metal and Limp Bizkit might alienate their current listeners, but they could stand to play some more NIN, Rage Against The Machine, Tool, Deftones, a few Metallica songs, maybe a little prog rock (Porcupine Tree) and DEEPER songs by Alice In Chains (Them Bones, Angry Chair, Rotten Apple), Nirvana, etc. Also maybe some punk like Rancid or the Offspring's "Kids Are Alright" (which was a HUGE hit back in the day). Couple that with cutting down on the Coldplay, Kings of Leon, overplayed "hard" rock that doesn't fit the format like AC/DC and Aerosmith and A/C crossover stuff like Third Eye Blind. THEN, they would be a respectable ROCK station.
