WRXS PURE GOLD 106.9

I have to wonder how long they'll stay oldies now that there's a big alternative rock-shaped hole in the Milwaukee radio dial.
If they still carried the previous rhythm CHR format, it would have been flipped almost immediately, since it was pretty much a ratings dog. But Pure Oldies has actually been successful for them, despite the obvious older demos. Currently, 106.9's ratings are the best they've been in years, and they don't have to worry about a bigger company swiping their format.

Still, alt rock would be ideal on that signal, in a cluster that already has classic rock (WKLH) and active rock (The Hog). But I guess Saga is content with the obviously cheap to run oldies format (which is really good). And they're probably not going to get much competition from WRJN/WRJM and their various AM and FM translator signals. Perhaps if Civic found a way to move the 107.3 translator to a more centralized location, they'd make more of an impact.

If not 106.9, I wonder if K-Love intends to keep 105.3 around, particularly since it's totally within 102.1's signal footprint. They've been known to occasionally unload redundant translators after acquiring larger replacement signals, but what about a little Class A in Mukwonago? I wouldn't mind Saga buying it, since they do way better radio than IHeart and Audacy do in the market.

It would be interesting to note what Bill Michaels' streaming and YouTube audience numbers are in Milwaukee. I see the request for clearance in the market quite often in the FB comments. He does live in the area and does regular remotes from city and suburban locations. I know it would probably take at least two signals for Mid-West Family to enter the market, but they could duplicate the alt rock format and the Wisco Sports Zone without adding too much staff. They would have to do a study to determine if the engineering expense would be worthwhile.
