WRYM Sold?

I just got a phone call from a friend asking me if I have heard anything about WRYM being sold. He said he has heard someone from Southington has purchased it.

I am concerned if this is true as I don't know what it means for our Sunday afternoon Polka Show which airs live on WRYM from 1 - 3 PM each Sunday from the Polish National Home in Hartford. The show has been on WRYM for 70 years now and is considered America's Longest Running Remote Radio Broadcast. I co host the show with John Gladysz.

If anyone knows anything please let me know. We would hate to see this Sunday tradition lost.

Thanks!

I think it's a little to premature to worry about it yet. Even if the station is in fact sold, whose to say they would cancel your show?

The Italian Show on WNTY AM 990 came on the air in 1969 a few weeks after the station signed on and has stayed on WNTY since then through 5 different owners. - The Rice Family, George & Norma Stevens, The ADD Radio Group, Davidson Media Group, and now Red Wolf Broadcasting. WNTY's Polka Show has been on the air for over 20 years, and the Lutheran Church Mass has been on WNTY for 23 years now.

The only thing that WRYM should do is changes formats maybe to Polish Programming 24/7. There are too many Spanish stations. And of course they need to get the FM translator up and running.
