X103s HD-2 channel is on today. Just more Alternative Rock though, Why the same as the main channel?

It's supposed to be classic alternative. Lets just hope its not all the same 10 "classic" songs they play on the main channel over and over again.

X103, Please dig deep for some true classic alternative.

Will yes.com be monitoring the HD channels?

If the playlist is very comprehensive, I would consider purchasing HD equipment. Prices on eBay are cheaper than the $400 - $500 figures that people throw around. (Mostly HD naysayers)

I guess I can listen on CC's HD webpage.

(how 'bout that for a cluster of random thoughts?)

It's a pretty interesting mix of ska, pop alternative, even some punk and a few cuts that X 103 currently plays. Some old (80's & 90's), some not so old ('00 - '03). Is this what they'll continue with? Don't know. There aren't any sweepers or identifiers on air yet like on Q-2. Plus I've heard a songs that are out of the format including one from Johnny Cash.

Sounds really good. I hope they stick with it.

Johnny Cash remade a Nine Inch Nails song "Hurt" just before he passed. Many !true! alternative stations played that version plus a few other cuts from his (Cash's) album that came out not too long ago.

Backdoor link for Double X (X103 HD-2)

I wish I knew HTML so I could put a proper link up. Just an address looks tacky. But here is the address you can paste into Windows Media Player:

http://mfile.akamai.com/21875/live/reflector:45925.asx?bkup=45927

They are streaming at 64kbps. Most of the other streams for other stations in other cities are at 32kbps.

The music selection is great. If it stays this way I will seriously consider getting an HD radio.

It wasn't Hurt. It was One Piece At A Time I think. I noticed at lunch that Michael Young was doing the sweepers for the station. It's called "DOUBLE X - ALTERNATIVE, ALTERNATIVE." You can hear it along with Q-2 online:

I'm sorry if I was misunderstood. I know the song HURT from Johnny Cash (his version of Personal Jesus really freaks me out). I was referring to the song I heard the other day on X2. That song was ONE PIECE AT A TIME.

I have a Slim Devices Squeezebox that connects to my surround system and cut and pasted the URL into the server software it uses....sounds pretty decent streaming at 64kbps. Also been listening to Q2 and some of the other stations.
The Squeezebox is probably the coolest toy I own for audio..it plays almost anything I want. Finding the stream URL is pretty easy. I just bring up the player from the Clear Channel page, click on a station I want to hear, then right click to get the properties, which reveals the URL.
So far, I like what I am hearing!

X103 HD-2 Double X

Now I can reference this quickly. The above was just a test. Works well. Thanks for the help.

Ah. I got you now. I'm sorry if I misunderstood you.

No harm, no foul.
