WSAH 43 Bridgeport

I hope I'm not violating the rules of this board... afterall WSAH 43 is located in New England, only that it's really a NYC market station. What I want to say is that I seriously think if WSAH found the proper financial backing, it could become a huge player in greater Fairfield County. With all the money that exists here, and the lack of coverage by the NYC stations, WSAH could strike it rich if it decided to become a "Fairfield County independent" station with serious news coverage of the Bridgeport, Stamford, and Danbury areas. Afterall, I believe there is a station with similar demographics in the Boston market (actually New Hampshire), WZMY-50, called "MyTv". In the same way, why can't the largest market in the nation, New York City, support a successful independent station in Fairfield County, with all the wealth, diversity, and news worthiness that occurs here. It boggles my mind as to why it's still not done, and why it hasn't been done yet! People in Fairfield County would salivate over the idea of having their "own TV station" that was Fairfield County centric. Now that the Shop At Home network will no longer exist, I wish that its former flagship station, NYC DMA WSAH 43, would really be turned into something successful. There is so much potential in Fairfield County, the last thing we need is Ron Popeil trying to sell us his pastamaker or another southern preacher yacking on our airwaves!I "pray" that someone with a lot of money is reading this post!!!!

What you are suggesting sounds similar to what was attempted with WMBC-63 in Newton, NJ. WMBC is also located in wealthy suburbs and was supposed to serve the people of NJ. But the station was not managed properly and now airs mainly infomercials and some international programming. Directv even dropped the channel from the NYC locals back in January. Hopefully WSAH will have better luck.
