WSAH up for sale

As well as KCNS in San Fran as that is also in the Multicultural portfolio. In fact, KCNS and WMFP should be theoretically terrific buying opportunities for Weigel, since both have signals that go into the urban cores of each city. Not the same with WSAH. They can't be a true New York station but don't want to be a Connecticut/Long Island station, either. The classic case of you-don't-want-to-be-who-you-really-are.

Ah, well. There have to be folks in Connecticut and Long Island who would like to see some classic TV shows that New York-area stations no longer air.

Another idea: Telemundo increases presence in that state with either an affiliation or buying the station outright.

WSAH has (or had) an application to move their transmitter to the Empire State Building which would obviously put a solid signal into NYC. I have no idea what the status is of that anymore. I'm sure they won't be doing any moving now that the station is up for sale. In terms of non-OTA carriage, Verizon Fios and Directv carry WSAH in NY/NJ. I know Comcast does not. Not sure about the others.

It was dismissed a while back. No moves are forthcoming for WSAH.

This will probably end up being another bottom of the barrel religious or foreign language station.

Or they could stay the course and keep the all-infomercials format, just like they've always done (except for a brief stint when they shown RTV in the evenings).

Apparently all those infomercials they have been airing for many years are not paying the bills. If they were profitable there wouldn't be a need to sell the station.

Not a lot of options with this stick. Any aspirations of being a full-market signal are more or less dead.

Infomercials? Religion? What else is there at this point?

So it looks like they are pretty much stuck for the reason that they would no longer be serving the "local community". I'm sure all those viewers would be up in arms about the loss of infomercials :)

Funny how the letter states "WSAH-DT's signal presently serves most of the state of Connecticut", which is pretty much a joke. That signal can't be picked up outside of Fairfield or western New Haven county.

An interesting coincidence that this drama is playing out some 50 years after the original Channel 43 - WICC-TV - shut down.

The coverage is larger than the original analog coverage, I urge you to check out the contour map on the FCC media bureau site. It does quite well up and down route 8, well out to Meriden and Middletown and out to Branford or so with a true omnidirectional pattern.

The informercials pay the bills quite nicely thank you. The problem is the bank wants its money back, go figure. I urge you to read the analysis in the trades which goes into detail on what went wrong.

Have there been contacts already between the company and any would-be buyers yet?
