WSAJ(AM) 1340 gone?

I just read where WSAJ 1340's license was cancelled.
Can anyone confirm this?
It's sad to know that the longwire might be gone forever.<P ID="signature">______________

FCC website search comes back with no results for WSAJ in an AM Query. :-(

A bit of history may have vanished.

However, I remember reading something about Grove City College's stations re-arranging somewhat. I'll see if I can find that.

Hi all,

I'm not 100% sure on this, as I haven't fully discussed this with my station advisor, but as far as I know, we at Grove City College have relinquished our WSAJ-AM license. The AM signal has not been widely used for quite some time (occasionally turning on via timer to duplicate the broadcast on our class A FM, 91.1). As far as I know, the FCC had the coordinates for the AM tower listed incorrectly and, rather than spend money & time to fix it, we simply turned it in.

Those of you who have seen the longwire antenna array: it is still up actually on the back side of Rockwell Hall on our campus.

I, too, am saddened by the news, as I had dreamed that maybe I could make the AM a sort of personal project to offer local news & even possibly interviews with our faculty to promote the college's faith and freedom stance.

Again, I do not yet fully know the details as I have not chatted with my advisor. But, if you do have specific questions, you can visit our webpage at WSAJ.com and click on the Contact Us link to email our station director. He would be able to give you a better answer.

Another piece of radio history could be gone with the wind. Just for posterity's sake, are there any airchecks of WSAJ/1340?

There's a chance that the Grove City College Amateur Radio Club may try to resurrect the longwire antenna for amateur purposes, as the college does have a long history in that radio service as well (we were licensed as 8CO in 1914).
