WSAR BIG ANNOUCEMENT

Keri, was back on her show today. One of my buddies called me while I was working to tune in. So I did. WSAR told us the big news. Keri is moving to morning drive. Hec, is still the station GM/ and morning show host.- Cliff Ponte is also joining morning drive as well- Keri was brief. She said that he is going to be morning show producer. What a promotion. So now, I ask the question..... Is Keri and Hec really going to get along doing mornings? Also, doesn't seem like people are going to like Keri's replacement. Eddie and Mike Herren.? Holy Shit. What a combination. I can bet that... its going to last 3 months either before Mike...kicks someone's butt....OR Mike.. Kick Eddie's BUTT. I've never seen Eddie... I suppose he is a little shrimp compared to Mike. - Watch out for this " studdering dude... I've seen him in action at local Bars.- But I no longer reside in that area.

I worked at WSAR as a producer and a host of the Saturday Night oldies show and enjoyed working there as I do not know thier finsncial situation I will not comment because I reallly enjoyed working there in the late 90's.

Huh? I read everything that you wrote... but the first thing that came out of my mouth is Huh? Hec doesn't need a Producer. That show has been on auto pilot since 1976. What is there to produce? I have a feeling that instead of "LIVE with Regis and Kelly" that this will be WSAR's version. "LIVE with Hec and Keri" This guy Cliff Ponte who I've never even heard of before will be Gelman.

I can't picture someone with the amount of Drive that Keri has to suddenly be stuck on the morning breakfast show with Happy Hec. I've said it from the beginning that it just doesn't seem like a good combination. Keri's afternoon show was like the FOX NEWS of Fall River. No matter if you love her or hate her, she got the job done. She exposed all kinds of hijinks going on in that city. She was an investigative reporter and a talk show host rolled into one. Personally I don't give two craps about Fall River. I think it's a giant cesspool to be honest with you. So that is why my interest in the show was minimal. But for anyone in Fall River I would have to say that Keri had the most lively show that WSAR has ever seen and it's to bad that the station is moving her to a position where that energy will now be lost.

My guess on this whole thing is that Keri's show was to controversial for the owners. They probably couldn't take the heat. Probably bribed her with a pay raise to lure her away from afternoons. Then decided to move her to a lesser role. One where Hec could play babysitter and keep her in line. This sucks simply because Keri doesn't need to be kept in line. She needs an outlet to keep doing the same thing she was already doing in the afternoon. Apparently the afternoon ratings are fantastic. Better than they've ever been. So if the ratings are so great.... than why the SWITCH? That doesn't even make sense? You don't take a highly rated show and get rid of it! So something here doesn't add up.

My 6th sense tells me that a lot of behind the scenes manipulation took place to make this happen. I don't think it was Keri's idea at all and I'm feeling that she was the one who was maniplulated by Hec and a couple of owners who can't handle controversy. So in some closed door meeting there was probably Hec and two Karam brothers sitting at a table. I think that The Karam Brothers started jabbering to Hec telling him that Keri is causing problems. People are complaining, they are sending threats about pulling advertising. Sponsors are in a tizzy. We've got to somehow pull her off the air. After some brainstorming they all came to the conclusion that sticking Keri on in the morning with babysitter Hec would be the best solution. Keri sees a few more bucks fly her way and before you know it she takes the bait. She just got steered off her path of success by two manipulative radio station owners and one old coot in the morning.

Management tried the same tactic with Howard Stern too. You talk to much Howard. Play 6 records an hour and don't talk for more than 4 minutes at a time between records. The best thing he ever did for his career was to not listen to them. The minute you become a sell out is the minute your destiny is no longer controlled by you. It suddenly becomes controlled by guys in suits who arn't interested in you doing what you want. They are only interested in you doing what THEY WANT.

Keri deserves better. I'm afraid that she was swayed by creativity killers (a.k.a. Upper Management). I wish her much luck in her new role at the station. Unfortunately I think her older role was the one that would have brought her to stardom. Not this new sanatized version of Keri we'll get on the goody two shoes Breakfast show.

No other station wants to hire her. Some of you have worked at wsar before and are saying some cool things. It's just not like that anymore. From College kids doing the news to amatures in sales. The station is a joke. People that work at wsar get a low , low pay and Keri never goes to bat for anyone, unless their up her.... This is like Bush saying the ecomomy is great. If they spent some money in the sales department, maybe the station would get off the ground but thats never going to happen, so this board is where a 'poster' does the 'spin'. stupid.

Do you know how many people in radio that I hear from who read this board? Sometimes they email me to yell at me. Sometimes they get on their radio show and talk about me in Kryptic form and other times they send me a nice note thanking me. It's no secret that this board is full of people in the industry. Most of them seem to be way to effected by what I say. But that is beside the point.

One thing you have correct "hotmanlarry" is that people in the business hate this board. They can spew about anything on their radio show, but they hate the fact that we can come here and spew the same garbage back at them. This board presents a platform of equal ground that Radio stations apparently hate. They can't control what is said here and it drives them crazy. For years Stations have always claimed that they love listener feedback. Some stations have even set up feedback hotlines to get listener opinions on programming. Well all of a sudden it turns out that stations don't like listener feedback afterall. When they get it, they freak out!

All I can say is that if you don't like what is being said on the radio, you can just change the station. Well if you don't like what is being said here in this forum than you can always avoid the site and go somewhere else. Simple as that. We are all on equal ground now. The internet is a beautiful thing

...You may be onto something.. Also, I went back and did alot of reading over the past few SAR posts.. and Im thinking this whole SAR rant has been started by someone who works there also.. Keri.. Not to sure, But another name that stuck out was this RadioPonte, Who I'm assuming is this Cliff Ponte kid... And since this kids name seem's to be up and down this board; often being associated w/ this BostonWizz; it then leads me to believe that BostonWiz/RadioPonte/Cliff Ponte are all of the same....

And forgive me, I actually think GTD had mentioned this a while back...If my brain serves me right....

Funny! I'm not Cliff Ponte. Nor do I work at WSAR. I've called WSAR many times to talk.- I've never worked at WSAR, nor would I ever. I grew up in Swansea and then moved to Fairhaven... So growing up, I listened to WSAR.-I take it personally, that people associate me with a "kid", while I've been working in radio more years than the kid can spell " Radio"- I AM NOT CLIFF PONTE! Ask a few people.-They know who I am!

Good to know. But I don't think there is a single person who worked at WSAR who hasn't called it a dump. I liked working there, but I was just a kid learning the ropes. Unfortunately I learned a lot more. I learned that certain management types take advantage of new blood. Overworked and underpaid pretty much sums it up. Way to many broken promises about pay raises that never came. It's not cool to string employees along like that. So I left. The End. WSAR is your typical radio station. People are nice to your face, but talk crap about you behind your back. I guess that kind of explains life in general, which is why sometimes I just want to move to an Island. You can't really trust anybody but yourself. Sometimes you can't even do that.

I might be very opinionated on this radio board. But that is where it stops. I'm not pathetic enough to start causing trouble for people in real life. However if anyone made the first move and attempted to cause me problems, than they might have a very good reason to be paranoid in the future.

Ok, I take issue with one thing, and one thing only with you people:

Why hate on the college kids doing news!

Alright, I admit it, I'm one of "the college kids" doing news at SAR and, according to some people, that shouldn't be allowed because:

A.) I'm not a grizzled 50 year old man.
B.) I'm not world weary and tired of "the business"
C.) I have not lived in 25 different cities.

But you know what, screw you guys. There was a time when you were 21 and not so jaded to the business, and you would have all F-ing killed to do news for a moderately popular radio station. Keri's show may piss a lot of people off, which it does, but she is not in fact the same screaming, hollering person she is on the air when she's walking the hallways.

See, I don't listen to the talk shows. I can't, partisanship makes me mad. But she turned a station widely known as "the place I go to find out if school was cancelled" into a popular force in the city of Fall River in about two years. Fall River may be a little hole in the wall, but now people listen that aren't eligible for subscriptions to AARP, and that's at least a step foward. Rome wasn't built in a day, and a hugely successfull radio station can't be either.

And it sure as hell gonna take longer than a day when we have a morning show, a mid-day show, and no afternoon drive. God help us all.

Oh, and Cliff Ponte is not the Wiz or Skynet (great name by the way) or Keyzer Soze or anybody else other than RadioPonte. So maybe stop reading so deep into people pretending to be other people.

… I am another one of those “college kids” doing news at WSAR- and I love it. – Keri opened the door for me. Why? Because she understands, that someone needs to start somewhere. For heaven stake, why don’t you people give up on “bashing” Keri??? – Since you all are so called “radio people” why don’t you comprehend the fact when you are on the air, you’re a different person. – What do you think? Do you honestly think Keri is running up and down the WSAR halls screaming? Do you think Keri is sitting at her desk looking for someone to yell at? NO.. NO and NO. – She is completely different off the air.- But I will stop there… because you frekin idots would “ assume”… its Keri posting this…

I feel for most of you right now…. I truly do… I actually feel bad! I have some advice for most of you who want to “bash” WSAR…. And “bash’’ the staff …

1) If you want to personally bash Keri ,Myself, Eddie, or Mike and The “ college kids doing news”… Why don’t you call us? Why don’t you man up?.... Why don’t all you people who seem to know so much about WSAR get a freaking “ job”. Wait….. You’re unemployed.

2) Do be jealous. - Don’t be jealous because when you were in college you didn’t have the same opportunity. KERI gave us. –

3) Stop calling WSAR a “dump”… All these people who “worked” at WSAR recently are not working at WSAR for a reason… Besides… “Who the hell are all these people who “recently worked at WSAR?”.. Unlike most radio stations… WSAR isn’t a revolving door.

4) On the pay…. If you think, I am going to tell you how much I am making… “Get Bent!”- I am making more money than most college kids- working in promotions, and handing out bumper stickers at other radio stations. (The competition out there is fierce, people our age would die for such an opportunity, and most of you who comment, and look back at people’s history all day- would also die for the opportunity)

5) What makes you think; I would degrade myself, and resort to such a low standard by signing myself under another name. I tell it how it is, and NOT afraid to confront you. But I think you are afraid to confront me………..

FINALLY, “Hotmanlarry” ; what do you mean by? “ponte = Keri’’… Is this who I think it is? “Use to work at WSAR?... hmm…. Why don’t you identify yourself?.. Or is it a big secret?... Your going to continue your slander toward Keri and us all right?


It amazes me… and really gets under my skin that you “ losers’” sitting at home all day long have the “ freaking” time to sit there and look at people’s history. I have no idea who WIZZ is. I’M CLIFF PONTE… ok! WOULD IT BE BETTER IF I CHANGED MY NAME?


Here is my word to you… As mentioned, the competition is fierce people would die to be in my position right now. – You are either sitting at home all day long.. looking for a job on allaccess.com; or you are just jealous that WSAR is growing to be truly Number ONE in Bristol County…

Barry Richard = Number One in midday…. ( I saw the ratings)

Keri= Number one in the afternoons ( I saw the rating’s)
