WSAR's New Breakfast Show!

OK I'm tuned in now and this is the first morning of what they are calling "The Bristol County Breakfast Club." Keri is good. News Guy Barry is excellent. But the chemistry with Hec is just non-existant. He's doing time checks every two minutes and he sounds like the odd man out. I know it's the first day and there is always a period of adjustment. But Hec sounds like he's sleeping. He is very quiet and not adding a damn thing to the conversation. He should just stick to doing RECORDED commercials. That is his strong point. But man oh man... he needs to get the hell off of this morning show. Keri has taken over as the star player on this program. Hec sounds like a sleepy co-host. I thought Keri would be the one who sounded out of place, but surprisingly HEC is the one who sounds like he should go home.

Sounds like a case of 'wounded pride' on the part of Hec. Put yourself in Hec's shoes for a minute......You've been the closest thing Fall River's had to Salty Brine for over 30 years...an institution, if you will...and now your space gets invaded by some relative newcomer with a 'pushy' personality, whose style of broadcasting to you is unfamiliar and uncomfortable.

Sometimes, change for its own sake isn't such a good thing. As corny and hokey as it was, Hec's morning show would have rolled merrily along until the day fianlly came when he decided to retire.

This pairing of him with Keri could have the potential of moving that retirement date considerably forward.

I don't know anything about this Hec but when they name a building or beach after him is when she should worry about the station trying to push his retirement date up.

D.R. ,, you know everybody likes Hec G. Now he's paired up with a know it all Yenta type.Everything HAS to be her way. She always said she'd have his job someday.Watch, it's sad. As for the Karams, as long as the station makes a little money , they don't care what goes on. They just don't. poor Hec.

Yeah Happy Hec didn't sound so happy this morning. He sounded uncomfortable to me. Keri mentioned that the new show is supposed to be a little spicy. Do you feel Spicy Keri asked? Hec responded NO. That may have been the most truthful thing he said all morning. Maybe even a clue as to how he truly feels about the situation. He certainly didn't sound spicy. He came off sounding unhappy. So the wounded pride thing might be very accurate. The guy has no energy. He makes Imus sound lively.

It's not totally about the chemistry with Keri either. I noticed that after all these years, Hec still sounds nervous on the air. As if he is always uncomfortable with the topic of conversation. I now see why he sticks to 35 time and temperature checks per hour. He truly sounds like he's afraid to talk about anything of substance. I guess he doesn't want to offend anybody with an actual opinion.

I don't know what else I can say. I'm just not feeling like this is the right pairing at all. This was no Howard and Robin. This was no Imus and Charles. What I heard were two people who sounded like they couldn't have any less in common. Two opposite ends of the spectrum who shouldn't even be in the same room with each other.

His time is up. He's been there since the station opened. Keri- is a good fit in the morning, but not with Hec. I think if it was Cliff Ponte, and Keri it would be better. Maybe it Hec stays around but they use Cliff as more of a co-host it would sound better.

But I must say, Hec must retire!

P.S. - I like the new traffic sounder! Like it alot!

I agree! I think Ponte should be more of a co-host. They should have him talk alot more. He has a sense of humor!

I really like the News guy Barry too. He's good! Nice energy. Even he would be a good co-host. Sad for Hec that he really doesn't fit into this equation. But you can't fit a square peg into a round hole.

Just , i've seen this all before. Theres 3 new posters all saying the same accolades about WSAR. Same cheers for Programer Rodqreous at WSAR. The one thing thats different is skynet always blew the whistle on her and her antics here. Whats up with that skynet? Did she give you some work or something? Eyes remember when you were commenting on kerri's bumper music all being Gay night club music. Not too long ago you posted a not too flattering clip of Kerri from You tube. so whats the joke? Is it on us or what? Hecter , the general manager at WSAR could do one more ballsie thing, before kerri and her new hire push him out, he could fire her.. Hey now! That would be funny! I used to be a Comedy man myself,, Summer Stock! ;D

Keri could've stayed where she was and been a part of the B101 morning show. She probably would've been tracking middays at Coast too. Getting the PD title under her belt was probably a good idea if that's the direction she wants to go but really how important is morning drive at a station with an older audience? Most of them are probably retired and sleeping in.

Well I'm always honest and will always continue to be honest. If I don't like something, I have no problem coming here and posting about it. You should know that by now. That former news and bumper music did indeed sound like a Gay club. I've got nothing against the Gays. But I know they must have been dancing during every traffic update. This is true.

That youtube clip I posted of Kerry was never intended to be mean. It was honestly the ONLY clip of WSAR on youtube. I found it interesting and wanted to share.

I don't make posts with the intention of mean. However I do always come here with the intention of being HONEST. I give kudos when they are deserved and I will rip someone apart if I have good reason. I might not always be kind. But one thing I always try to be is REAL.

Are you the same deep voice guy who has done the imaging for a while? If so... then I complimented you here a while back saying you were great. I'm sure the post is still here in the archives somewhere.

It's just a tough situation all around. WSAR is the underdog and it's almost impossible to pull them out of the hole they've always been in. They would really have to hire some outrageous talent and figure out some incredibly creative ways to promote the station if they are ever going to become more than what they are now. I know they are trying hard over there. Nobody walks into that place with a desire to fail. I'm sure they try their best. But no matter who the management team at that place is, their best never quite seems good enough.

Apparently Keri pulled in listeners during the afternoon. But now that she's gone, those listeners have probably tuned out. Today I found an interview about Mike Moran getting fired. Judging by the comments I saw people arn't happy about what they now get in the morning. Here is the link. http://www.wickedlocal.com/fall-river/news/x565324743

Bottom line is that when someone walks into a management position at WSAR, they are really walking into a major challenge!

No listeners were 'pulled in' in the afternoons. Ratings have been about the same at SAR for years.
The comerical rates have stayed the same too.
