WSB 750 & 95.5 - breakdown?

Does anyone know the breakdown of the numbers of the simulcast?

I know before adding the FM, WSB's numbers were significantly down. I would love to see a ratings breakdown for each station.

Does Arbitron do that?

Arbitron has the raw numbers for each - they're individually encoded.

But a station would have to pay a significant processing charge to do a full rerun of a book with each station listed separately.

WSB says Arbitron doesn't give them the numbers.

I would think the numbers are available for a price, and David Eduardo seems to be saying that's the case. I would think the station would need to know the answer to this question.

In Portland, OR, news/talk KXL-AM started simulcasting on FM about 2 months ago. Then this week, they put sports on the AM signal, saying the KXL audience had moved to FM. How do they know that's the case?

The 95.5 signal does not have full coverage over the metro. In Portland, the KXL-FM signal that is a full blown class C located in the city limits of Portland. Unless they move WSB-AM signal to 98.5, it will continue to be a simulcast.

There's an app in to move them to the antenna farm as a C-1 directional.

The FCC is holding that up because of cross-ownership rules since Cox also owns the AJC. I personally think that's ridiculous. The rule was originally intended to prevent a company from monopolizing opinion, but with all the media choices today, that shouldn't be an issue.

That app could be approved next year or years from now. Even with the move, the signal will not be a power house signal. I am not sure it would be enough to do away with the AM 750 signal.

The nulls in the pattern are actually not that big a deal. They'll pretty much have parity with everyone else. If the audience migrates to the FM, sports or, perish the thought, ALL NEWS would be a great option for 750.
