WSB Morning Anchor Switch

Seems like 11alive has started the juggling of anchors bug. Pam Martin is leaving the morning newsteam, but will still anchor noon and will have reporting dutings during the 5 and 6 newscasts. Carol Sbarge will now anchor weekday mornings.

Another rumor going around (reported by Rodney Ho in his blog) is that WSB-TV will have a new male 5 PM anchor to transition away from John Pruitt. Jovita Moore was installed at 5:30 under the asumption Monica was going to retire (she didn't), and David Chandley was put in at 5 PM for unexplained reasons. (Glenn Burns is now off of the lottery drawings for unexplained reasons - I don't know if he is getting ready to leave WSB-TV or not).

WSB-TV is doing something incredibly stupid...screwing around with success. Unless these moves (past and present) are for personnel reasons (personal and family reasons of the anchors), I don't see the logic.

Under the GM-ship of Greg Stone, none of this would have occured. Bill Hoffmann is open to changes (he brought us Jimmy Kimmel), but there are limits. You may be the 800 pound gorilla now, but you blow it pretty quickly if you are not careful.

When you have the ratings that channel 2 has they can play around and see what may work for the future when Monica or John do retire. I would say some of the health problems that Pam Martin had a few years back maybe what is keeping her from working the 2 hour morning news block. I also think Glenn wanted to reduce his workload because he is established and can do that plus it can't hurt to let David further establish himself so that when Glenn retires he can move into the prime slots even though I expect Glenn is going to stay at 2 for several more years. John is probably the first to retire.
