WSB-TV new graphics appear on the way

WSB-TV showed promos today featuring brand new graphics teasing stories airing for tomorrow. The "2" is smaller and appears in the lower-left hand corner of the screen (the current one is on the lower-right), and a font that resembles what the Raycom stations are using. The "Action News" graphic is slightly changed, and the "WSB-TV-DT" is gone.

I suspect they will be in place tomorrow. We will have to see.

BTW: I wonder if they will be using the Chyron Axis system that WAGA and WXIA are using, only without the corporate design/mandate. Adoption of Chyron Axis leads to lost graphics jobs.
 
I actually saw one promo using these new graphics as far back as Tuesday. It was a tease for something on the 6PM news I believe, some story to do with aviation, if I recall correctly.

I just captured one of these new promos (along with an older style promo which aired immediately after the new one) and uploaded it to Youtube in HD for anyone who is interested in viewing it.

This is a long overdue update, as far as I'm concerned (especially when it comes to the logo).

Thanks for posting the vid, nodefault. I just moved from Atlanta I don't have an opportunity to see these changes in person anymore...

Apparently...they are still using the old graphics as of the 11 PM newscast. I suspect we may have to wait a while for the new graphics.
 
Judging by the teasers that I'm seeing tonight, we may just see the new graphics at 11.

New logo? The 2 is now in a framed box. Hardly an improvement for one of the nation's least distinctive logos.

I was referring more to the entire Action News logo (which has been revised), but I understand where you're coming from...
 
Any word on if we are actually going to see this new graphics package soon? I keep seeing the promos with the updated look, but the newscasts still have the sale, old, and tired package.
 
Yeah, Channel 2 seems to make changes arbitrarily. I was thinking they may hold off changing until Justin takes over at 5, but knowing Channel 2, the new graphics will debut on a Sunday morning broadcast with no fanfare...
 
They sure need something. That one shot of the anchors and the weather area
................there must be about five 2's on the screen.........a bit too much.
 
I watched FOX 5 the other night and they have gotten new weather graphics since
the last time I viewed them and they were really COOL.

I hated that one Georgia map with about 100 green trees all over the state. They
had a huge tree near Peachtree City..............I'm sure somebody was wondering where
that big tree in Peachtree City was located.
