WSB-TV presents Clark Howard in HD

I think another historic first has occured in WSB-TV history: It's first HD news segment.

While I do not have HD, WSB-AM/TV's Clark Howard presented his first story in HD. The story, how to buy an HDTV.

I wonder if 2006 will be the year WSB-TV takes its news HD. WSB-TV is always on the cutting edge of new technology (WSB-DT was the first DTV station in Atlanta, as well as the first three letter call sign station to do so). The last couple of years, WSB-TV broadcast their own 4th of July parade in HD.

Currently, I believe WRAL-TV Raleigh/Durham is the only TV station in the US broadcasting HD news. WSB-TV could become the second (assuming WRAL-TV is the only station at this point, I do not have any way of knowing). It will not be long before the analog signals are cut off (new proposed date is April 7, 2009), and these stations need to get onto the ball and upgrade.

Even though I live in WRAL's coverage area I couldn't tell
you if they're the only station doing the news in HD; I
do know that they were the first station to have HD capability.

WUSA-TV in DC also does their local news in HD, and I think there are now 1 or two others around the country that do the same. Of course, WRAL's sister station, WRAZ, Fox50, also does their news in HD....

Such as KUSA-9 in Denver (co-owned with WUSA). And WJW-8 in Cleveland.

WCVB in Boston does the occasional HD News segment, and I think two Seattle stations also do some coverage in HD.

But WRAL/WRAZ were definitely the first and I love watching their coverage when I can get it.
