WSB-TV VP/GM Retiring

I hope Mr. Stone has a happy and healthy retirement.

It will be interesting to see what changes occur at WSB-TV over the next couple of years, with Monica set to leave (and John probably will retire shortly).

And maybe they'll update the gfx!

I've heard that Monica will retire in July 2007 but I also heard that WSB-TV and her agent have been in talks. Do you think John and Monica will retire at the same time? John will be 64 this year and Monica will be 58. I would like for them to stay on the air for a few more years. I guess Jovita will take Monica's job but who will take John's job? The only name I came up with is Richard Blecher.

That does become a possibility, since Hoffman began airing
Jimmy Kimmel on WFTV last November.

I have heard that Greg Stone is a man who does not like change;
notice that Channel 2's programming (aside from changes in the
ABC schedule) seems to be the same year after year. I'll be
interested in seeing what Hoffman does with the station; perhaps
he'll be like the GM who switched Channel 2 to ABC: Fred Barber,
a confirmed believer that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" is an
invitation to losing market leadership. One difference: Barber
came in in 1980, when NBC was mired in third place and Channel 2
was spending heavily on movies and syndicated shows to replace the
umpteen weak spots in the NBC schedule; Hoffman gets a network that
is a strong second to CBS in overall homes. So the pressure to make
large-scale changes won't be as great on Hoffman. But I am interested
in seeing what kind of ideas he brings to the table.

I'm thinking she started in the mid 60's at WSB. I'm also thinking she worked in Kentucky for several years before coming to Atlanta. Wouldn't she have to be older than 58?
However old she is, she still looks damn good!!

once told me that Louisville's NBC affiliate, WAVE, sent WSB a
tape of her. She was at then-CBS affiliate WHAS and cleaning
WAVE's clock in the ratings, so WAVE wanted her out of town.
WSB was impressed and the rest, as the saying goes, is history.

Before I respectfully ask you if you need new glassusses, what do you think about her various hair styles through the years?

So what are you saying....my dollar store glasses are inferior?? Do you not think she looks pretty good for almost 60? Count the number of women, and you'll only need one hand, who look better than Monica at 58.
BTW, I saw Joan Rivers on a commercial last night.....now even with my dollar store glasses, that was hideous!!

I have the same problem with my glassusses from the hardware store . . . However, I lucked out and married a sweet young thing that is twenty years younger than my old ugly self. Nice and smooth . . . Up close and personal and Monica shows her age.

Joan Rivers . . . I saw that commercial and I was shocked! The woman is falling apart! What? No warranty for plastic surgery? We need to get Clark Howard on this case immediately!

You are allowed to be "close" to Queen Monica?? You must carry the holy water!
I, too, married someone much younger than myself.....one of the very few things I have done right in my life. Smooth indeed!!
I looked at Joan's site to make sure she was not a corpse....room temperature, if you will. No pictures from at least the last 20 years.....
