WSBA Off The Air

Noticed that WSBA and 1440 were off the air around Noon time today. TV21 was off briefly last night due to power hit at at their transmitter.

WSBA off the air during a big weather emergency, hard to imagine. Anyone remember "operation snowflake"? Really sad what 910am has become.

We had heating registers in my house when we growing up (the kind where you could look/hear downstairs from your bedroom). I always remember listening to that (Operation Snowflake) early in the morning, say 530am, earlier than I would normally get up. My Dad had the radio on WSBA down in the kitchen every morning, and I could hear it plain as day. When they said my school ,there was elation as I lay in bed - and angst as they continually passed by my school (CLOSED: Cocalico, Conestoga Valley)....no Columbia!!!!
:( Good days and memories

It's really a pity that WSBA radio is little more than some pleasant memories.

At the height of everything, WSBA was running Rush as normal on Monday. No local break ins at all while I was tuned in. I'm sorry, WSBA just doesn't cut it anymore. Their new CE is going to have his hands full with that place!

Ever since the Susquehanna guys (Flenner & Poff) left, the place turned into a dump, technically and literally.
What was once a smooth operation has now been reduced to a fly by night duct tape, twine, and bailing wire kind of setup.

The old saying is still true, "A ship is only as strong as its captain." It is obvious this operation has none. The Mighty 910 is done.

The Mighty 910 is no longer mighty. I was in Lancaster County on Saturday. The night signal is gone for the most part. A few miles north of the city, WLAN'S 18 watts came in better than WSBA'S 1KW...directional to the east. In the 60's and 70's WSBA screamed into all of Lancaster County day and night.

910 and 1440 were both silent today around 1PM.

DISGRACEFUL......Cumulus is a nearly bankrupt, bush league Company. 910 and 1440 are dying!!

They call it progress gentlemen. In my opinion, broadcasting in general is the pits. Is there a forum somewhere for the general discussion of broadcasting?

And that is exactly what happened to WSBA's sister station, WARM (AM) in Scranton. Once known as "The Mighty 590", WARM's transmitting facility was allowed to deteriorate by a succession of corporate owners who just didn't give a damn...and still don't.

WSBA was the Mighty 9-10 and a very good station in there day. Once the rule of 7 7 7s was done away with radio went down the drain. Clear Channel the pits of radio operations. It hard to get an quality representation, fair and honest opinion when 40% of your market can be owned by one group.
