If you haven't heard it on the station, this Thursday Lite 107.1 will become Lite 93.5. After that, a new format will launch on 107.1. That means what's on WSBG (and most like who's on WSBG) will be no more.

Nice job Rick Musselman! Bet you still have a new car you traded for on advertising. You're theme should be "Another One Bites the Dust!"

As Ed Norton always said to Ralph, “…Another one of your well calculated plans goes to pot…”

Good luck whatever the deal is. :-\

Yep -- that'll do it!

A STATION CALLED "THE BONE" WILL BE STATRTING ON 107.1 ON MAY 3, ACCORDING TO THE POWERS THAT BE? ANYONE KNOW IF THIS A SIMULCAST OF ANOTHER PA STATION, OR A NEW STATION?

Nassau could be bringing their "Bone" rock format to 107.1...they already have it in Portland, Maine: www.boneradio.com (Also the home of Free Beer & Hot Wings in Portland!)

"The Bone" could be a nice fit for Nassau in the Pocono market. 'ZZO and Rock 107 are the other rock stations, but their signals become spotty throughout the region and are not "local" to the Poconos like 107.1 is...

Yup, it's new. Nassau registered 1071thebone.com on April 23.

Okay, Lite 93.5? Is the station slogan for Lite 107.1 still "The Best Damn Elevator Music in the Poconos!" ??? Mussleman should be somewhere lying on his back trying to chew through his restraints. Can't someone get that guy committed?? His mind is gone!

Okay, I’m not going to slam Nassau, after all it isn’t nice to kick someone when they’re down. I just want to pose an idea for thought and discussion:

The ‘New Generation of Broadcasting’ had a bunch of ideas, a number of them based on ego. When a decision would be made that was a bit twisted there were professionals within the ranks who would be able to bend steel with their bare hands, leap tall buildings with a single bound and were more powerful than a locomotive. When one of those twisted ideas came down the pike, the professionals would be able to re-twist, bend, pull, push, shape and re-structure those half thought out ideas into a successful outcome despite very little support from ‘the top’ since ‘the top’ wanted to distance themselves from the half baked idea and despite all odds most of the time everything would turn out alright. But those people were fired over the course of the last year. Those professionals aren’t there to catch the snafus anymore so the ideas have no safety net.

Now I’m not saying the people left behind aren’t professionals, far from it. The people still there are professionals it’s just that they have seen what has occurred over the course of the last year and are beaten individuals, never knowing when their positions will be eliminated. Now with the latest announcement there most likely will be others stepping out the front door of 22 south 6th for the last time. So there goes another batch of people who would be able to correct the heading of a poorly thought out plan and the latest idea from ‘the top’ will be left to proceed on automation to it’s ultimate conclusion, Muzak with commercials.

I wish the best of luck to those who have gone before and those who will be free soon and hope they will be able to land on their feet quickly and run, not walk, as rapidly as possible in a direction away from 6th street.

Any additional thoughts, ideas or bashing is welcome… :-\

How convenient! Fire the morning show for a "racist" comment and then change the signal/format. Wow. Can you say Shaw-WING as soon as upper management heard the "nappy" comment!

Dunno, waunderlust... It's always dangerous to assume intelligence. I think the firing was a knee-jerk reaction to a few loud mouthed 'demonstrators.' Only after the advertising cancellations and the listener revolt did the company realize what a boneheaded move they had made. Trashing the format was the only option left.

Decent amout of advertising dollars at stake here. I don't think the dollars will have to travel all that far to steer clear of this cluster, er cluster of stations. It will be interesting, and amusing, to watch the fallout.

Got my start at WSBG way back in the day when they switched over from VPO-Fm. Was really bummed to read about the change.
Tuned in over the web this morning, and doesn't seem to be any different at all.

What's up?

Right now I can't access WSBG's online stream, while WWYY's is fine as Lite 107.

Anything happening over the air on 93.5 right now?

Here's the switch for historical preservation:

93.5: "Twighlight Zone" by Golden Earring ("...when the bullet hits the bone." Clever.) --> "The new WWYY/Belvidere is 107.1 The Bone" --> beginning of "Bad to the Bone" by George Thorogood --> dead air --> Lite 93.5 ID --> "Straight from the Heart" by Bryan Adams

107.1: "Syncopated Clock" for about 3 minutes ending with "Lite 107 is moving to 93.5 in 5 seconds" --> dead air --> "Bad to the Bone" joined in progress --> sweeper mentioning how Jenna Jaimeson likes "The Bone"

Incidentally, the new 107.1 is now the "Valley's real rock station", apparently eschewing the Pocono Mountains roots and gunning for a share of WZZO's audience.

Case in point: Just heard a liner saying, "If you like girls, hot wings and football, and you think ZZO blows, this is your station." They're clearly after "CC-O".

IT'S OFFICAL WSBG HAS PASSED AWAY. RIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Curious, first promo on the bone is about boning Jenna Jameson, song after that (Buck Cherry) Has like 1 clear F bomb and a bunch more semi clear ones, yet Nassau was so worried about Garys NHH comments..
Hmm, I smell salary dump here.. At the very least, they wanted him out, and wanted to go in another direction(like another poster said, I definitely agree) Very convenient to go this route.. Now, thing is WWYY was really starting to hit on all 8 cylinders last book (2.4 in W/B Winter 207, highest rating they ever had, and a 1.4 in Allentown) Why blow that up, and move to a weaker signal, when they could have just blown up WSBG and not confuse all the listeners/alienate the market.. Again curious move, and I think it was one made out of panic, and not careful thought.. What do you think..

It is entertaining to watch from over here where it's safe when it blows up again. It occurs to me the parent company must have what would amount to the biggest case of Programming A.D.D. we have ever witnessed. Lite 107 didn't last long, SBG only slightly longer, VPO - well that poor signal has been through more changes than 100.7fm. Look at ZZO, Cat, KRZ, Magic and Rock 107 - long standing formats that make slight changes as time goes on to keep things on track in the direction they are heading for. Yeh, they may not be the perfect stations but at least they are commited to their formats and strive to build 'A Brand' that people will remember.

Good Luck with the "New" stations. It will be interesting to see what they do with the frequencies next year. :)
