WSBG/WWYY Frequency and Format discussion

Today I was flipping through the dial on my car radio and I landed on Lite 107. I heard the DJ saying, This Thrusday 5/3, listen to us on our new frequency at 93.5. I could not find anything on their websites about it. Has anyone heard this too? I wonder why they would move Lite 107 to 93.5? Comments?

Not a flip. The 107.1 format is moving to 93.5 and a new format will launch on 107.1. WSBG dies as a result.

So, pretty much Nassau realizes they have nothing at SBG without Gary Smith, really sad in so many ways.

It also explains why they were so quick to give Gary the boot. When you fire someone "for cause" it let's you skip on the unemployment bucks. If he had a contract it probably also meant that Nassau didn't have to show him any mo' money.

So this Thursday (5/3), WSBG moves to 107.1 and Lite 107 moves to 93.5. But the current format on 93.5 will not move to the new frequency. So lets have fun and speculate what Nassau could come up as as a new format for 107.1.

My Prediction:
1) Another predictable Classic Hits station like the Hawk or Frank FM.
2) Country:Maybe competition for Cat Country 96.
3) A Variety Hits Format, like a Jack FM. (Even though its similar to the current WSBG Format)

My Wish:
1) Hits of the 60's and 70's, even though they killed their oldies station back in January. The chances of them doing this is near zero percent although I could dream about it.

I think the Gary firing was a miscalculation of epic proportions. The listener/advertiser backlash over his abrupt departure have made any protests over his comment tame by comparison.

Pocono Record and a local cable company put together a 'summit' for race relations over the weekend. Had Gary not been dumped, WSBG could have milked that little event for limitless publicity. Alas, WSBG wasn't involved in the lovefest...and appears to have been removed from a lot of presets around here...

Wow! What a confusing situation. It makes one wonder that the only radio station that has been constant in Monroe County has been WESS. What does that tell us?

The public really doesn't have as short a memory they are hoping for and the public today isn't as gullible as in the past. It won't take long to find out it's the same farmer, same pig it's just different lipstick – you know, the cheap stuff from Dollar General. Make it look real good… ;)

Country to me would be the logical choice. Give Cat a run in the Pocono Region and Northern Jersey.
The format is in a real upswing right now.

Right now I can't access WSBG's stream. Anything happening on the air?

Yocco,

I agree w/you.. CTO is #1 in the market ZZO is #5.. Nassau doesn't have a country station in this market, going after Cat would have made a heckuva lot more sense than going after something that could damage their major bread winner as well... Very curious, and in my opinion, erroneous move..
