WSBH 98.5

Since they paid $5 Million for this CP, I'm wondering about a few things.

*What is the coverage area ??
* How's the audio??
*Any live/local presence yet? Or, is it just a satelitte/hard drive juke box?

Random thought...

I would think with some wrangling with the FCC (perhaps re-license a station to Satellite Beach), 98.5 could easily move to the Bithlo towers in Orlando with no issue. Might mean they only cover downtown and the UCF area, but it would mean more money! I know there's 98.7 in Tampa, but I would doubt that means much 90+ miles from their tx site on an adjacent channel.

Radio-X

It only has to be 55km away from 98.9 WMMO and it is actually 88km away now so it could get about 30km closer to Orlando. It has to be 75km away from 98.1 WNUE and its 80km apart so this really limits the orlando potential.

I'm actually surprised they were able to shoehorn this station as it is. Seems WAY too close to 98.7/Ft. Pierce. I realize the stick is south of Ft. Pierce and targets West Palm Beach, but still...

Of course, this also would not have been possible if Entercom had kept WKTK/Crystal River a full Class C. That facility was purposely downgraded to a C1 several years ago in order to allow co-owned 98.7/Sarasota to upgrade and cover Tampa Bay.

The signal kinda peters out in Wabasso, about eight miles north of Vero Beach. The audio seems fine. Ray Micheals, ex WQOL, covers the morning shift but seems nearly a non-presence during my commute. From about 6:55 til the signal fades at 7:10 I only hear one break. Other jocks sound very syndicated. You notice the break between the calls/sloganeering and presell of the coming artists. They also seem to be playing a fill song where a spot break could go. On the up side, they're still playing some 60s music.
