WSBK & THE THREE STOOGES

Hope TV 38 brings 'em back to Sunday morning after the Patriots wrap things up for the winter.

There IS a New England TV board 'way at the bottom of the Discussion Board list. But here --- I'LL tie it into Radio for ya:

"What DJ worth his free promotional swag hasn't at one time or another used a Stooges clip as a drop-in (a/k/a wild track)? For example: 'QUIET, you numbskulls, I'm BROADCASTIN'!' "

AMC is running the new digitally remastered ones!

The Stooges ripped into Radio on a regular basis, and even TV in it's earliest introduction, Anyone remember the short when they were plumbers, and the upper class folk were watching a test of the new TV with a live broadcast from Niagara Falls?

I always likes their use of network tones as sound effects when they hit multiple people over the heads, I think the NBC tones were used frequently.

Yes, that episode you mentioned was A Plumbing We Will Go, where the water came rushing out of the TV screen as they were watching Niagara Falls.  I also remember the scenes with the chef in the kitchen, and when the woman tries to use the phone.  Just a few of the funny things that were to come after they connected the plumbing to the electric and phone lines. ;D

Then there's the one in which Moe is trying to tune in a station on a radio that's obviously not working right. Larry leans over his shoulder and inquires, "Shortwave?" Moe replies, "No. Permanent!" and smashes the worthless radio over Larry's head.

With The Stooges...it even extended to sponsors of network radio.

The radio ad for Lifebuoy Soap was parodied...with The Stooges using a foghorn-like sound to mimick the famous sound effect "B e e e e e - O h h h h h".

Also parodied was the Bulova Watch Company's sponsorship of network radio with The Stooges announcing:......"At the sound of the tone...It will be 3 O'Clock....Bolonia Watch Time".

As a matter of fact, TV 38 opened up with that very short on the marathon this New Year's Eve! 8)

A ggod one for sure, and here's another favorite, from the archives:

Curly: Tuning the radio
Mo: "You like the radio?"
Curly: "Certainly, I love it!"
Mo: "You got it" + head smack

Priceless. The history of Western Civilization can't be told without reference to the Stooges. The plumbers short mentioned in this thread is a classic, and the ice box delivery short when they have to shlepp the icebox up the steps to a house on a hill is up there with it.

Sean Penn is back in for the Three Stooges movie which also may feature Benicio del Toro. I think it's being put together by the NH's Farley Brothers.
