WSB's Hot Topics/ Kimberly Kennedy

Can anyone help me understand what this show's mission is? I've known about it for a while but finally sampled 10 minutes for the first time tonight.

This show is truly bizarre. It's a mishmash of random out-of-market "news of the weird" items stitched together by Kimberly Kennedy's on-camera intros. Does Cox syndicate this? I saw no sponsor in the program that was unique to the program -- basically it looked like WSB rotator spots filled it out. WSB gets a good enough rating that time of night that they could do something legitimately local or run off-net syndication. So why this? Does KK do enough around the station where this is just part of her overall contract or is this all she does for them?

The strangest show on an Atlanta affiliate, this program is. Just wondering.

Hot Topics was briefly shown on Cox sisters WFTV/Orlando and WSOC/Charlotte, both of which have dropped the show.

It does great locally, but has little value outlside of Atlanta.

Yes. Kimberly was formerlya news anchor at WSB and WXIA, before working on the 2000 election campaign of President Bush.

WSB-TV has a strong commmitment to local programming, so this is what they do.

At least they don't preempt network programming for this.

Think of it as a combination of the '70's-'80's "That's Incredible" show combined with the old "Real People" show from the same era. Therefore you have "Real Incredible People". A bit of sex appeal wouldn't hurt either(news in the nude). Watch the ratings go up with that!
