WSBX EN ESPANOL?

Rumor has it that WSBX is flipping on Monday or Tuesday April 6th or 7th to Spanish as "EL Chongo" . Yes this is true. It is flipping as Georgia Triangle Broadcasting continues sale negotiations. Georgia Triangle decided to flip it to Spanish in anticipation of the new deal being reached rather than take it dark, Again. Meanwhile Woody is hard at work on his syndicated 24/7 format...

Woody,

WSBX is not reaching Tallahassee. I can get every Thomasville station, including 1 kw WPAX on 1240,
but nothing on 1020.

What is the format hole in Thomasville itself? Is there one?

When you can answer that question, that should point you in the direction to take.

Which I understand is KORC-AM in Oregon.

Good luck to you.

Yes we have had nothing but trouble with the station site. We were trying to move the station into it's COL and could have done so if we could have sold the land which we had a buyer lined up to buy the land. However, when we went to sell it, the "Commercial Property" we bought was totally misrepresented to us by the seller and constitutes a huge case of fraud that we are investigating. It turns out the land is zoned as agricultural with non conforming use. I know there are some peeps that are going to have a fields day with this one, but I don't give a rats ass anymore. Georgia has been a nightmare, and the best part of it it will be leaving it someday.
If we sell this property it can't become anything like an RV Park or anything, it either has to remain a radio station or revert to agricultural. The sellers, and the lawyers on both sides knew full well of our intentions to sell the land where the pig in a poke is located, hell you can't even access it now as the road washed out. Our Lawyer said, you are paying us so much, ($20,000 + ) in closing fees because it is a commercial transaction. I will leave it at that. So that is why we have decided to flip WSBX to Spanish and have a buyer I cannot disclose who due to a confidentiality agreement and I hope they will have better luck with it as they plan to move the tower site closer to Tally. We have had nothing but problem after problem with this white elephant and a 280k deal has become 500k. Here comes the Mexican Programming, Choke on it Rednecks and Bible Bangers and Good Riddance!!!

Choke on it Rednecks and Bible Bangers and Good Riddance!!!
Oregon's coastal communities like Waldport, Florence and Newport; which KORC serves, would not take to kindly to the above remark. Oregon's coastal communities are very religious, conservative and tight nit Rednecks; unlike the inland portion of the state; which tends to be on the far left.

I myself find the comment very offensive, as I am a conservative and I am proud to live in the Bible Belt. If you disagree with the views of rednecks and christians, that is one thing. But to post comments like that is a whole other story.

Anyhow, good luck with the station and may your endavors go better than they did in Georgia.

At 7:00 P.M. E.D.T. on Monday April 6 , 2009 , WSBX AM 1020 OCHLOCKNEE/TALLAHASSEE Officially Morphed from Active Rock to Rock En Espanol y Mas , Radio EL CHONGO was born. WSBX AM 1020 has become the only Spanish Language Station in SW Georgia filling a great void in programming for the region. With a growing Hispanic Population in the surrounding market which includes Tallahassee Florida, Albany Georgia, and Valdosta Georgia, OM/PD Woody Nelson is excited about its potential. Georgia Triangle Broadcasting LLC will continue to program the station that is running Jockless for the time being. Woody Nelson is also programming KORC in WALDPORT Oregon as a Rock Station and feeds it with his Rocket Radio Network Syndicated Format. Woody is in need of Spanish music and programming, so reach out to him at [email protected] .

Congratulations on the new Spanish Format. Is is Tejano, Regional Mexican, or is it something with a more "urban" style approach? Even though I am not into spanish, when me and my family are passing through on I-10 this Saturday I'll try to tune in (although I doubt I will hear it at 3 AM)

Have a great evening,

Travis

It is a mix of all types of latin music to appeal to everyone. When I lived in Cabo San Lucas they did not have one type of music on a station, it was a mash of everything, this will be like a true Latin Station, not the Americanized blend. It will be available streaming soon at www.radioelchongo.com as well but we are tweaking the format as we test it on the terrestrial stick of WSBX AM 1020
