Wish they'd turn it off permanently.

Agreed - turn off IBlOCk permanente!!!
The current administration in Washington should tell the IBlOCk "narrowcasters"
that using IBlOCk transmitters makes the "carbon footprint" too large!!!

I know that all of us DXers wish that IBLOCK would disappear.

Re: WSCR With IBlOCk Off AGAIN Last Night

Yep, checked it out at 11:00 pm CDT and WSCR was at reduced power with that damn IBOC off! This time I picked up a reasonably strong WFAN at 660 and WPTR Raleigh at 680 ("News Talk 680"), with a little whisper of WINR Binghamton, NY. I seriously doubt that KNBR would have made it through the noise of either signal.

WBBM seemed a little less oppressive than usual too, enabling me to hear WABC clearly through the jammer hash and a medley of fading signals at 790.

Missed it again. Does there seem to be any pattern as to when they are doing it?

Tuesdays and Thursdays? I don't know for sure. It's been hit and miss lately. Perhaps they're doing night maintenance on the transmitter. Of course, 11 pm isn't all that late.

I'll have to listen in and see if I can catch it. I'd like to hear WFAN again.

WFAN is 'doable' when it's strong enough, I can null out the WSCR ibuzz fairly well then... Would like to hear KTNN - The Navaho Nation, again!

When did you pick up KTNN?

Before WSCR's IBlOCk was on at night, in the fall of 2006, a couple hours past our local sunset, and before they go directional at night there. Another time since at around 3 a.m., they must have either had problems with their DA or they were testing overnight...KTNN's signal was really strong, rocking WFAN something serious! (along the lines of how WZFG was rocking WTAM)

I've never heard KTNN. Hope I get the chance sometime.

Stormy had it just right - about the only way to catch KTNN in Chicagoland would be during their critical hours, before they flip to their night pattern. And, the most likely time of year to get that much bounce that early would be in December/early January.

However, you would also need WSCR to have their jammer off and atmospheric conditions that aren't very favorable for WFAN. So, basically you need to have 3 rarities happening to catch KTNN from this area. Of course, they are an easy catch at night in UT, AZ, NV and non-urban areas of California. And, okay in NM and parts of CO - though you're getting into the null once you're east of Window Rock. When I lived out there, I used to hear their Navajo broadcasts in the evening; they were very strong into the Salt Lake City area.

By the way, WSCR was on full-blast last night. Tearing up 3 channels for the price of one!

I always catch WSCR on the wrong nights--with their IBLOCK on.
Re: KTNN, I've never heard them here. The only time was when I was driving through AZ. Obviously a tough catch here.

Well, I will admit to having a little luck on my side; but I just happened to catch 670 with their jammer off a couple of times. I tend to fall asleep listening to WLS or WHAS (not a comment on their programming :D), but I also get bored during the colon buster and credit consolidation huckster ads which is when I take a cruise up and down the band to see what's what. That's how I've been catching WSCR with Stalin's jammer down. I'll try again tonight.

Whenever I listen they always had it on. Sometimes it bleeds over to WSM.

You should try going down to the DFW area there is no IBLOCK Down here.
