WSEN sold!

WRUN sold!

Since no sources are listed, and WSEN doesn't appear in any list of transactions that I can find, I think that we can safely chalk this up to the "rumor" category.

What's NOT in the rumor category is the fact that WRUN-AM has apparently been sold to "Digital Radio Broadcasting Inc.", i.e. Charles "Bud" Williamson, who also bought a CP for Ontario, NY.

Judy has told the staff that it is being sold but will not say by who.
Here is what I do know....It is not:
Galaxy, Wolf/Cram, Citadel or CC. I hear galaxy looked at it, but feel WSEN is cooking the books. I heard WOLF/Cram was interested but got beat to the punch. Citadel - NO MONEY, and CC is at there limit. If I had to guess, here are my guesses:
Stephens Media Group which owns stations in Rochester, or Salt City Comm. maybe Butch Charles is getting back into ownership.

Here's my guess:

THIS IS BULL.

Nice try, but a few well-placed phone calls confirmed that no such "announcement" was made at any "meeting". Sales must really be in the dumper at Galaxy and/or Citadel if they've resorted to nonsense like this in an attempt to gain a competitive edge.

Check back in when you have a substantive sales announcement on a real station in Syracuse/Utica/Rome. Like I said, WRUN has been sold, but that's the only REAL sale in the area.

who did you ask? I am not making anything up. Judy has told some staff. I never said she had a meeting on this topic. She has told the people close to her. Mr. Buckley/crew and bankers came up 2 weeks ago.
These are the facts. You do not have to believe me. But in a month, you will owe me an apology.
My guess is the company buying WSEN have signed a letter of intent and are trying to get things in order before the big announcement.

Uh-huh. An apology will definitely be in order, but I don't think I'll be the one issuing it. Time will tell.

I don't believe it either. Where's the concrete evidence? Unless you work for the station, none of this rumor is sticking.

It's Galaxy. You'll see.

That'd make sense on a certain level. Galaxy owns quite a few FM translators around Syracuse and could run the AM programming on those at night under the new rule change.
