WSEV Sevierville - No more Smoky Mountain Radio?

I was in Pigeon Forge this weekend and noticed that 930/104.1 is just playing music with nothing else but a legal ID. Have they given up on the tourist format?

I also notice that the ID for the translator has changed. Last year when I was down there it was W229BE. Now it's W281BQ.

The ID has changed because the frequency changed. W229BE was on 93.7. Channel 281 is 104.1. Guessing it was either slow to change the ID, or the FCC was behind in issuing its new call sign.

My mistake on the call sign. I just went back and checked my records, it has always been W281BQ. But does anyone know if they decided to give up on the tourist format? They have gone from like 15 minutes of commercials an hour to none at all.

I have no idea what Bristol's plans are for WSEV and the translator. They went from an all over the road music mix with a lot of tourism ads, to music and wildfire relief info, to just music. If nothing else, simulcast Thunder Country.

Last time I heard them, they were running continuous oldies with no advertising. Guess Bristol can afford the tax write-off, I understand they only gave $25K for the station. And they are making some money W258DB broadcasts from their tower relaying WRJZ Knoxville.
